Heading to an amusement park this summer?  It’ll be super hot, so here are a few outfit ideas that are cute, lightweight, and comfortable.

Looking for summer theme park outfit ideas?

Going to a theme park during the summer is HOT. You’re on your feet all day standing in lines, the sun is blazing, and you need something lightweight and comfortable. But also you want to be cute, right?

We’ve gone to Disney World for spring break, we’ve been to Disneyland tons of times, Universal Studios twice, and Six Flags a handful of times. These three outfit formulas will work for any of those theme parks, and any others you may be visiting.

I have an entire post dedicated to Disney World outfits, if you’re heading there anytime soon, plus a post I did about our trip to Universal Studios Florida HERE

The key for any amusement park outfit is COMFORT

You’ll want something lightweight, comfortable, and easy to wear all day.

Another must is a backpack, especially if you don’t have little kids and won’t be bringing a stroller (I still always bring a stroller unless I’m without my kids). THIS IS MY FAVORITE AMUSEMENT PARK BACKPACK because it holds everything, easily wipes clean, is comfortable to carry, and goes with everything.

My other amusement park essentials:

Amusement Park Outfit Idea #1:

During the summer, especially when you’re outside all day, shorts are a great idea to keep you cool. You could white or blue denim shorts (although white could get dirty when sitting on all the rides), or a pair of non denim shorts.

I know lots of people love biker shorts, but personally I hate them. I shared a few other non denim short options in this post.

Pair with a cute tee (themed ones are always a fun idea!), and bring along a hoodie or jacket for those cool early mornings and late evenings.

Of course shoes are the most important part! Instead of a clunky exercise shoe, choose a slim sneaker that looks great with jeans but still gives you lots of comfort. My favorite are THESE ONES! You could also do a comfortable sandal – just choose one that has support so your feet don’t hate you by the end of the day.

Amusement Park Outfit Idea #2

Have you worn a skort since you were 10? I hadn’t either! But I just found this one on Amazon that’s a longer length (I need the length for religious undergarments) and it’s a perfect lightweight solution instead of shorts or leggings.

Since it has shorts built in, it’s easy to keep from flashing people when you sit down on the Matterhorn Bobsled…*wink*

The skirt is an athletic material, so you’ll want to keep the rest of your outfit casual so it makes sense together. I’d recommend a pair of cute sneakers, a basic tee, and some fun accessories like a hat, headband, or a cute crossbody bag. Don’t forget earrings or bracelets for a little sparkle!

CROSSBODY BAG | BASIC TEE | SKORT | EARRINGS | BRACELETS | BASEBALL HAT  | SNEAKERS

Amusement Park Outfit Idea #3

You might feel nervous about wearing a skirt or a dress to an amusement park, but trust me — in the summer, there’s basically nothing better! Just choose one that will keep you covered no matter what kind of ride you’re on.

I wore my striped Merrick White Collection dress to Disney World a few years ago (you can see me wearing the older version HERE) and it was so incredibly comfortable all day, and kept me nice and cool. It’s knee length, so I didn’t stress about flashing people when I sat down on the floor in line, or rode a ride with my legs dangling. But if you’re worried about it, you could always through a pair of biker shorts on underneath!

Choose some cute sandals or slim sneakers for your shoes.

I also swapped out the waist tie on my striped dress for this LEATHER BELT BAG and it held my phone, hand sanitizer, and chapstick hands free! THIS ONE is another one I’m loving right now, or you could go for a more ATHLETIC VERSION.

STRIPED DRESS | WHITE SNEAKERS | SIMILAR CROSSBODY BAG | SUNGLASSES | EARRINGS | SANDALS | MINNIE MOUSE EARS

I wrote a post all about our trip to Universal Studios last spring break!

We visited Universal Studios for 2021 Spring Break and I shared all about it RIGHT HERE, if you’re headed there this summer!
