With all the nesting that I’ve been doing the last few weeks, one of my big projects that I wanted to tackle was a photo wall. When we bought our condo five years ago, we put a few photos up around the house, and then when we went to sell it a few years later we took down all the photos for the full “staging” effect. Although we never sold it, and it’s been off the market for nearly two years, we hadn’t gotten around to re-personalizing until now.
Pretty much all the personal touches around the house are now back up, but I still wanted a large photo wall that could display some of my art, as well as some family photos. We have a large wall in our kitchen that has displayed a big round clock for the last five years, and as soon as I saw this photo on pinterest, I knew that combining a large round piece with smaller square and rectangular pieces was totally doable.
Here’s our version:
All the frames I used were ones that we already had, and since we used so much of my art and other art that we’ve collected over the years, I only had to print off a couple of photos. So the whole project cost me about $15 in photo prints.
I love how it came together, and especially love how much it adds to our home. It finally feels like a space that real people live in, because, hello, we’ve had a total of one personal photo (our wedding photo) hanging up for the last two years.
Now I can cross off one item on my to-do list…time to get cracking on the other five million.
Your photo wall looks awesome – love it!

Your photo wall turned out great! I really like the large clock.
I have a similar problem. Our house has been on the market for over a year; we recently took it off and now I am in a decor funk because there is this lingering move in the near/far future. It makes me not want to invest money in the home since we don't know how much longer we will be here. The photo wall is a great, inexpensive way to make it personal. Love it. The fact that you put it in the kitchen makes me so happy because I have a big blank wall in my kitchen and have been debating how to decorate it. :o)

Looks great! I like the incorporation of a shape other than a rectangle. I started a photo wall a while back. I should keep adding to it!

I found your blog on Pinterest last week and I'm now going to be a dedicated follower 🙂 I've read several of your posts, and I just LOVE what you do! And I love this wall! I have a question about the map print though, if you don't mind me asking. Are the red dots where you've been or something like that? And did you make it yourself or is there a place that I can make one? Thanks!
I Love the photo wall. I have something similar in mind when we get our own place. Until then Pinterest it is 🙂
Ha – totally did a house post today, too! 🙂 Love the mix of straight lines with the circle.
PS – Peanut may appreciate a giveaway I have going on right now!
You did a great job! I love how it turned out!
Augh! I've soooo been meaning to do exactly this…for 2 years also. Haha. Come do it for my house now toooooo!
I love that map! What exactly do the dots represent?
I, too, love the map print. I'm looking for a similar one for an anniversary gift for my husband, but can't find both the US and Caribbean. Is yours from Etsy?
The map print was made by me. I just found a map on google that included the countries that I needed, and then added the red hearts to all the places that we have visited as a couple.
Oh, and the clock was a wedding gift, so I don't know where it's from. But I've seen similar ones that Bed Bath and Beyond, and Tai Pan. Good luck!
Displaying some of your bags on shelves is a great way to showcase them while keeping them easily accessible. Consider using clear acrylic shelves to minimize any potential damage from hanging hooks or stacking.
