I get emails every so often asking if I’ll post a hair tutorial. As much as I’ve always been happy to oblige, the problem is that my hair is really inconsistent. a.k.a. all my good hair days are a total fluke.

Then I was contacted by Jose Eber (pronounced Joe-say E-bear), and asked to review their hairstyling tools. The one I was most drawn to was the clipless barrel curling iron, and since it has arrived, I have been in hair heaven. You guys, good hair days are apparently the result of good hair tools. I’m serious. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard people talk about curling their hair, and how they can make those curls last two, three, or even four days. With my cheap-o curling iron I’d been using, my curls were gone in about eight hours. Now? They seriously last three days. This is the best thing ever.

Also, other hair tutorials I’d seen talked about holding the hair in the curling iron for about 10 seconds. With my old curling iron, my hair would still be stick straight after 10 seconds — it would take at least 30 seconds to get a curl I was happy with, which made curling my whole head a pretty big time commitment. With this curling iron, 10 seconds is plenty, which means I’m done with my whole head in about 8 minutes. Have I mentioned I’m in love?

So now that I can consistently do my hair just how I want it, here’s my little hair tutorial.

First off, tools. Here’s what I use.

hair tool mat c/o hana salon // pro-series 19 mm curling iron c/o jose eber // garnier fructis hairspray // brush // johnson’s baby powder

And now, a simple, pretty, and super quick hair curling tutorial.

Jose Eber is generously offering 15% off their entire website to Merrick’s Art readers with the code MERRICK15. So go get yourself a nice curling iron, okay? You’ll thank me, I promise.

Nice tutorial! If you want bigger curls: try using a straightening iron and turning it 'till you get curls 😉

I love this. I have to admit, it's about time I get rid of my old, shabby, curling irons and buy something of value.

I just discovered the importance of buying the right curling iron too! 10 second curls are so fantastic.

This totally makes me tempted to get a new curling iron. Although it would STILL take at least half an hour with my crazy hair, but oh well.

I've been thinking about getting a curling iron, so this is really helpful. Especially if the curls last multiple days!

    Thanks for the tute!

  7. I wish my curls were consistent! I struggle with the insane length of my hair and now the awful summer humidity… It just falls flat… Maybe it's time for a trim! xoxo

Your curls always look perfect so I am legit tempted to get this! I'm weirded out that it doesn't have a clamp though.. don't you burn your fingers holding it in place? haha 🙂
