I just went on a girls trip to Nashville! Here’s what we did, ate and what I wore.
Last weekend, I took a trip to Nashville with my best friend from high school. It was my first time in Nashville, Tennesee, and it was a blast!
I got a bunch of questions about the trip, so I’m sharing our itinerary, where we stayed, and what I wore while in Nashville.
Nashville Girls Trip Itinerary
Our trip was Thursday evening through Sunday afternoon. Here’s a breakdown of what we did.
THURSDAY:
- Arrive Thursday afternoon/evening – 4 of us arrived around dinner time, the other two arrived later that night
- Pick up rental car
- We knew we were staying a little farther from downtown, and didn’t want to spend a fortune on Ubers (especially with a bigger group of 6, and possibly have to get 2 Uber vehicles) over the weekend, so we rented a car. We got a Jeep Wagoneer and it’s massive, but I drove and I only had to parallel park once, so it was all good and it was great to have everyone in the car together and be able to go wherever we wanted, whenever we wanted.
- Dinner at Monell’s
- This was a really fun family style restaurant that felt like grandma’s house at Thanksgiving. You sit at big tables with other groups, and the food is brought out in stages. No ordering, you just eat what you’d like, and it costs around $20 for adults and a little less for kids. This was nothing like I expected, and such a fun, unique experience. We got right in on a Thursday evening, but I’m sure there’s a wait on weekends.
- Grocery shop for the weekend
- We got items for breakfast since we were staying in an Airbnb and could cook. We bought a few items for breakfast sandwiches, and also grabbed a few healthier snacks that were easy to take on the go.
- Check into Airbnb
- We stayed HERE, and it was totally fine, and had plenty of space, but it was about 20 minutes outside of downtown. I don’t think any of us realized this when we booked. We looked at probably 20 different places, and then finally one of the girls decided this was the best layout and within our budget, so we booked. I rented a car that fit all of us, so we were able to easily get downtown, but if you’re not planning to rent a car, this is not a great place cause you’ll spend a fortune on Ubers.
- Pick up remaining girls from airport
- Hang out at airbnb
FRIDAY:
- Wake up at 7am, go running in the neighborhood by the airbnb
- Get ready and have breakfast at the airbnb
- Leave at 9:15am for the city bike tour
- Music City Adventure Co e-bike city tour at 10:00am
- My friend found and booked this, and it was just under $100 per person and lasted for almost 3 hours. The e-bikes were fantastic and make riding about 15 miles super easy (totally doable for kids and older adults). We rode all around the city and got some amazing views, fantastic history lessons about the city, and had a total blast. This was a highlight from the trip and Justin was a fantastic tour guide. Highly recommend.
- Lunch at Liberty Common
- We had heard great things about this spot, and it was absolutely gorgeous, but the food was underwhelming. It was fine, but not amazing. Also, considering we were in the music city, I wished that they had live music rather than Britney Spears blasting through the restaurant.
- Donuts from Five Daughter’s Bakery
- We bought these and brought them back to the airbnb, which made them easier to split into 6 ways so we could all try each flavor. We bought six donuts, and they were phenomenal. We’d heard amazing things about this spot, and it lived up to the hype.
- Back to the airbnb
- After hours of riding bikes and walking around, we were ready to relax for a bit, so we headed back to the airbnb where we ate the donuts, a few girls took a nap, and we relaxed.
- Make charm bracelets
- I bought a few little items so we could make charm bracelets together, and this was a perfect low key activity to work on for the afternoon while we chatted and laughed. I bought THESE BRACELETS, THESE CHARMS, and THESE JUMP RINGS AND TOOL SET. The bracelets turned out so cute, and I’m so glad we had this little memento from the trip.
- Indian food for dinner
- We decided to DoorDash dinner because it started raining and we were exhausted from a late night, early morning, and a busy day, so we stayed home and ordered Indian food from Sindoore. It was tremendous, and I highly recommend.
- Hang out at airbnb and stay up way too late
SATURDAY:
- Wake up at 8:00am and go for a run in the neighborhood behind our airbnb
- Get ready and eat breakfast at the airbnb
- Drive to 12 South
- Lunch at Hearts
- We planned to go to The Butter Milk Ranch, but we got there and the wait was 3.5 to 4 hours, so we bailed on that and chose Hearts instead at random. It ended up being tremendous, and we got right in! We got seven different dishes and shared them all, and honestly everything was amazing. The eggs benedict was my favorite.
- Shopping around 12 South
- This was the cutest little street packed with shops and restaurants and outdoor markets. We walked up and down the street and popped into basically every store down there. They had the Draper James store (gorgeous), and a huge variety of other clothing and accessories stores.
- Ice cream at Jeni’s
- Right before we left to go back to the airbnb, we grabbed some ice cream at Jeni’s. I got the double half-scoop and tried gooey butter cake and brambleberry crisp. The brambleberry was my favorite, but both were tremendous.
- Back to the airbnb
- We had a little time to relax, take a cat nap, and get ready for the concert.
- Dinner at Prince’s Hot Chicken
- Before the concert, we grabbed a quick dinner at Prince’s Hot Chicken. We’d heard it was better than Hattie B’s, but we didn’t have time to compare, but Prince’s was seriously delicious. I got the mild chicken sliders, and it was definitely spicy, but not uncomfortable, and SO GOOD. Also the fries were amazing! Highly recommend.
- Dierks Bentley Concert at Bridgestone Arena
- We found out about this concert a few weeks before we arrived and found tickets for $25, so we snatched them up and it was SO FUN. I only know like 2 of his songs, but it didn’t matter — the concert was a blast and the talent was incredible. If you have the chance to go to a country concert while you’re there, do it!
- Walk around Broadway
- When we got to Broadway Street before the concert, the energy was so fun and exciting. When we got out, around 11pm, the vibe had totally shifted. It felt grungy and much less safe. We’d planned to go somewhere to go line dancing or grab a mocktail, but we just did one quick loop up and down the street and then headed back to the airbnb.
- Back to the airbnb, stay up way too late
SUNDAY:
- Wake up at 8am
- Breakfast at the airbnb and pack everything up
- 2 girls off to the airport
- Check out of airbnb and head to church
- Drop off rental car and go to airport
- Time to leave!
Questions from you:
- How did you decide on Nashville?
- We actually debated on a lot of different places over the course of about a year. Each of us lives in a different place (California, Las Vegas, Reno, Utah, Texas, Missouri, and Illinois) so we talked about places that would be easier or harder to get to for various people, which places had fun things to do for groups of women, which places would be more or less affordable, etc. We finally narrowed it down to three places and had everyone in the group chat vote for their top choice, and Nashville was the winner!
- What was your favorite meal?
- We had so much good food, but I think Hearts was my favorite food that we ate.
- How far in advance did you start planning the trip?
- We booked our airbnb about 4 months ago, I think, but we made reservations and bought concert tickets only a few weeks before we arrived.
- Would you stay in the same area with kids?
- Probably not. It was safe and nice, but if I take my family, we’ll definitely stay closer to the city. We were about 20 minutes outside downtown, which turned out to be inconvenient, but manageable. I’d prefer to stay somewhere closer that we could easily Uber and walk around.
- Where is the boot shop you posted pictures of?
- It was right on Broadway in the heart of the honky tonks! There were a bunch of boot shops, I think this one was called Boot Barn.
- How did you handle different budgets? Did you split everything evenly?
- Everyone is very mindful of each other’s budgets, but I don’t think we’d do a trip if budgets were vastly different. Everyone was able to afford the trip comfortably, so it wasn’t stressful to eat out or buy souvenirs. We looked at a ton of airbnbs and some of the girls would say “that’s more than I would prefer to spend, if possible,” which was helpful in choosing one that was right for everyone’s budget. When we were there, we split everything evenly. Someone would pay for lunch and parking, and immediately we split it evenly and everyone would Venmo for that amount. It was much easier to keep track of the money when we paid each other back immediately, rather than dividing it up at the end of the weekend.
- How did you plan the itinerary together?
- We did, but also we didn’t have a strict itinerary. We planned the eBike tour and booked that ahead of time, and we’d purchased the Dierks Bentley tickets, but besides that we didn’t have anything set in stone. We created a running list of ideas, and then we sort of played it by ear throughout the weekend, depending on what people wanted to do or how everyone was feeling. We had planned to go line dancing one night, but everyone was too tired so that got skipped, I really wanted to go to Five Daughter’s Bakery, and everyone was very accomodating to that, and two of the girls really wanted to buy boots so we spent an hour or so going through multiple stores to find a great pair. It was nice to have a few things set, and also lots of flexible time, and everyone was just happy to be together regardless of what we did.
- Did Nashville live up to the hype for you?
- Yes totally! It was such a fun atmosphere and energy, the food was amazing, the people were so friendly, and it was overall a great first time. I think going to a country concert in Nashville was the cherry on top of the experience…it was a perfect way to end our weekend!
Here’s what I wore in Nashville
I pulled some old favorites from my closet for this trip, and it was fun to see that a few pieces put together in new ways gave me some Nashville appropriate outfits! I didn’t want to wear anything too “costume-y,” but I did want to wear things that felt appropriate for the setting and events.
Denim dresses, jumpsuits, graphic tees, oversized earrings, and western style ankle boots were perfect.
