There are a lot of new (or I should say old) trends coming back to life. Here are my least favorite trends and some options I prefer!

There are a lot of new trends coming to play this year. A lot of them are older trends coming back to life. Today I’m going to share some of my least favorite trends, and options I prefer instead!

My Least Favorite Trends right now

1. Biker shorts with oversized t-shirts

  • Why I don’t  love it. This one is controversial since it’s a favorite for a lot of people. We’re allowed to have different opinions, so if this is your favorite kind of outfit, you do you! But I just think biker shorts are an unflattering option on most women, and the giant t-shirt is shapeless and does nothing for your body. Let me suggest an alternative that I think is very cute and just as comfy.
  • Here’s a better option! Try THIS CUTE SKORT with a shorter tee, or a knotted tee. Add some cute sandals or sneakers, a baseball hat, and you’ve got an outfit that’s just as comfy but gives you a waistline and a little shape.

2. Hair Kerchief

  • Why I don’t love it. This hair kerchief one is a trend I’m seeing on a lot of teens, although I’m sure it’ll make its way to more adults soon. There are lots of ways to wear a head scarf, and I certainly don’t dislike all of them! Tied around your ponytail or bun is so cute, but over the top of your head/behind the ears looks so old fashioned.
  • Here’s a better option! If you want to do a scarf, wear it around your ponytail or bun! But a headband is a great alternative that feels a little more sophisticated. Or if you want a casual look, choose a baseball hat.

3. Tube Socks

  • Why I don’t love it. Socks are an ever increasing trend. Socks with heels, socks with sneakers, socks with sandals. The tube socks in particular just feel very tacky with any outfit and give a frumpy and dated look.
  • Here’s a better option! No-show socks are my favorite thing ever. If you’re in need of a good pair, THESE are my absolute favorite.

4. Low rise jeans

  • Why I don’t love it. The high rise jean trend kind of got out of control, with rises of 11-12 inches…I think we can all agree that is TOO HGIH. And what goes up, must come down, but we can go to more mid/high rise rather than back to low rise! No one needs their undies or crack hanging out the back of their jeans like every girl had back in my high school. Having your jeans waistband hit closer to your natural waist is a much better and more flattering option. Otherwise your upper half becomes a block, no matter what, and everyone gets a muffin top waist. Check out the difference between rises and what it does to my body shape IN THIS PICTURE.
  • Here’s a better option. If high rise jeans have gotten too high, stick to a more mid/high rise. But please don’t go back to low-low rise. Choose ones that hit you closer to your natural waist and avoid the muffin top. For me, a 9″ rise is pretty good. Play around with different rises and see what works best for you.
