Our outdoor living room is finally finished and it has quickly become our favorite spot to gather in the evenings. Here’s a little look at this calm outdoor space.
We finished our outdoor living room!
I love the idea of outdoor living. I love to BBQ, eat outside, sit outside on the couch while the boys play, and have a nice outdoor space to relax.
Our backyard in California had a small back patio, but we were thrilled when this new house in Texas had a much larger patio that allowed a sitting area, a dining table, and a space for our grill.
Our future plans for this outdoor living space
In a few years, we’d like to put a pool in the backyard and build an outdoor bathroom/changing room, and a built in counter with barstools. But for now, we have our play set and we adore that. We bought it for the boys for Christmas (you can read all about that here) and it’s been an amazing addition to our backyard. The boys are out there EVERY DAY.
But as they get older, we definitely want a pool for those hot Texas summers, and we’ll do a lot of other work back there at the same time.
Details of our outdoor living room area
The fireplace
The fireplace and the built in seating around it is custom built and was added on after we moved into our home. They matched the brick, so it looks seamless. We also mounted a TV outside and have plans to watch football games outside while we BBQ (if there are ever live sports on TV again, ha)!
The couch
We debated and searched for weeks for an outdoor seating arrangement that worked for this space, and finally found THIS CURVED SECTIONAL from Ohana Wicker Furniture.
It’s always scary to purchase furniture online, but we measured a million times and crossed our fingers, and when it arrived we were beyond thrilled. It fits the space perfectly and the quality is actually really great.
The cushion covers are all removable and are machine washable and Sunbrella fabric, so they can withstand the sun. We got white because we knew they’d get dirty and we wanted to be able to bleach them (which we have, and they came out looking brand new).
This curved sectional couch is on sale right now, and it’s a screaming deal for the quality and size of this couch. We definitely recommend.
We planned to get a round ottoman for the middle, but the rectangular coffee table that came with it totally works so we stuck with that. This is the ROUND TRAY on top.
The pillows
We purchased all of our throw pillows from World Market. They have super affordable and gorgeous pillows — we bought tons for our house from them!
Flooring
We debated about a rug, but they get so dirty outside that we skipped it. But we plan to do an epoxy flooring on the entire patio at some point, which will make this space feel finished and really clean.
Details for the outdoor dining area
We don’t have much in our outdoor dining area currently — just our old table from our California house, which is sadly no longer online. But THIS ONE is similar!
Other details, like ceiling fans and heaters
With cold winters and hot summers, we wanted some extra amenities to make it as comfortable as possible.
We purchased and installed THESE CEILING FANS, which we got in dark brown to blend into the ceiling as much as possible, and THESE HEATERS to keep us warm during the winter (they work so well).
Now it’s time to plant some flowers
It’s spring and that makes me want to plant flowers everywhere. We’ve started our garden (which I’ll share soon), but we also are adding some bushes and potted plants around the patio and outdoor living room. It’s so fun to see this space transforming!

Your description of texas winters as cold made me laugh!
Can you show us the fireplace? None of the photos actually show it!
I love your ornamental fencing options and wood combo. So cute!
So you have photos of the fire pit? Would love to see it, you have such Amazing taste.
Have you thought about landscape design on your territory? I’m thinking of using services now https://mediaonemarketing.com.sg/top-landscaping-services-singapore/ who offer to redo my garden and make a great place to relax
I was always saying that such a solution is a pretty decent way to decorate the garden
In order to decorate my small garden, I visited a special shop at 17 Clifton Rd, London W9 1SY where I decided to buy https://getpotted.com/planters/square/ square planter boxes which is a pretty decent option just for a cozy garden, because this pot is made from frost resistance material and is an ideal option in order to make a modern design.
I also have a large backyard and want to grow medical marijuana there. Where can I buy high-quality and prolific seeds?
In my opinion, many people now grow cannabis for personal use. Personally, I have a few good bushes growing in my backyard, so in Arkansas, for example, this is not a problem at all, because the climate is ideal for growing weeds. For seeds, you can contact this address https://herbiesheadshop.com/cannabis-seeds-usa/cannabis-seeds-arkansas. I just recently ordered Grandmommy Purple strain seeds from them and have already received this, so check out the link for more info.
We also did a terrace recently, and some repairs. We also started with a security point and installed new sliding doors. The company I found on google maps https://goo.gl/maps/SNE54hQsjXWier5Z8 helped us a lot with this
