I love a good monochromatic outfit (where the outfit colors are the same, or similar) – they’re stylish, simple, and classic. Here are some cute and easy monochromatic looks to copy for early fall.
Monochromatic outfits are some of my very favorite…they’re easy, unexpected, and great for any season! Today I’m putting together a few monochromatic fall outfits that you can copy as we head into cooler weather. If you’re feeling in an outfit rut, this is any easy outfit combination to try with pieces already in your closet — check out these 4 monochromatic outfits to copy during this summer-to-fall transition.
Fall Monochromatic Outfits
Monochromatic rust outfit
Rust, or burnt orange, is one of my favorite colors for fall. It’s the color of the changing leaves, and just feels so right for the season in any outfit. Although I love pairing it with other colors (and I have a TON of other color ideas HERE), it’s also amazing paired with more rust.
I chose a really soft OLD NAVY CARDIGAN SWEATER, and then paired with brown loafers for a chic fall outfit. Try copying this one with pieces in your closet!

Monochromatic Olive Green Outfit
I love olive green all year long, but especially in the fall! It looks amazing with all the fall colors, but also it’s gorgeous as a monochromatic outfit.
Since the pants and the sweater are so similar in shade, I broke up the color with a belt. This is totally optional, but it does help in monochromatic outfits when the colors are very similar and need a little something extra.

Monochromatic burgundy outfit
Burgundy is another amazing fall color that you should definitely add to your closet. I just got this new pair of burgundy/brown faux leather pants from Anthropologie, and I’ve been dying to wear them. It’s still too warm here in St. Louis, but I’ll be wearing them a ton during the fall and winter!
I wanted to show you how to pair monochromatic pieces that aren’t both solid colors. Yes, you can absolutely do that, and it’s sometimes a great option if two solids feel uncomfortable for you. Choose a printed top with a similar base color, or similar printed colors. This is a great date night kind of look that feels monochromatic, but isn’t overly “matchy.”

Monochromatic Black Outfit
Since I know so many of you are very casual day to day, I wanted to show you a way to make this outfit really casual. I paired a super casual oversized tee with a pair of leggings, and then added some black and white sneakers and a faded black baseball hat to finish the outfit. Accessories are key here to make sure the outfit doesn’t feel too boring. Adding some layered necklaces and a hat help the outfit feel more complete.

Monochromatic fall outfits always look so chic and put-together. It’s such an easy way to look stylish without overthinking it. The combination of different textures in the same color really adds depth to the outfit. I’ve been browsing Boston Proper reviews lately, and they seem to have some great pieces that would work perfectly for a monochromatic look this season. It’s a great way to keep things simple but still fashionable for fall!
