Tulle skirts are one of those statement pieces that are just a little hard for me to style. I mean, on New Years Eve it’s the perfect thing, but any other time I just feel like it’s so fancy and poofy. I made myself a white one back in December, and then THE LIST by I-ELLA (a monthly fashion box where you create a profile with your style preferences and then they put together a box just for you with amazing brands and products — it’s like having a personal stylist! You can see some of the items in last month’s boxes here and then sign up here to get 15% off your first bag!) sent me another gorgeous gray-blue recently, so I knew I had to figure out a fool-proof formula for wearing these things. I mean, they’re just too fabulous to not wear all the time.

So I drew up this little illustration to help you style your tulle skirts too (and if it makes you realize how you neeeeeed one, my sister just created an easy tutorial!)

Now go buy or make yourself a tulle skirt, and check out THE LIST!

So pretty! (and I like this one because it's more wispy (?) and less poofy. A nice difference).

Loving that skirt styled in such a casual way! Do you know about how many items come in each box from I-ella? Or does it vary by month/price range?

So, I've been wanting to make a tulle skirt for the longest time but have been too afraid to start. I'm finally going to take the leap & go for it but I'm not sure what color to go with (except obviously white or ivory). Any suggestions on a cute color?

  14. Tiffany Ima says:

  16. This is awesome. Is there any way to get that skirt without ordering a whole box? Or should I just use your tutorial instead?

  17. Natalia Lynn says:

I LOVE this! I have wanted one for a while. I'm not very petite but I'm gonna try to rock it. Actually I had been thinking about turning my wedding dress into a tulle skirt like what you've got on today. I thought it would be a great way to rework such a special piece! I just need to get around to doing it! 🙂

  18. Sally B. says:

I looove how you styled it!! Never thought I would ever see an outfit with an tulle skirt that I would actually wear, but you always change my mind!!
May I ask which programme you use to draw your sketches?
    xoxo, Salome

  19. Lovely as always and your little illustrations are the cutest!

  20. Tracey says:

I have a black tulle skirt. It has less poof than yours. I went with a black top, red suede pumps, patterned black tights, a bubble necklace from J Crew and a white & black tux jacket. It was very female 007. I got so many compliments that night.

Thanks for showing me how to make it more of a day look.
