Tulle skirts are one of those statement pieces that are just a little hard for me to style. I mean, on New Years Eve it’s the perfect thing, but any other time I just feel like it’s so fancy and poofy. I made myself a white one back in December, and then THE LIST by I-ELLA (a monthly fashion box where you create a profile with your style preferences and then they put together a box just for you with amazing brands and products — it’s like having a personal stylist! You can see some of the items in last month’s boxes here and then sign up here to get 15% off your first bag!) sent me another gorgeous gray-blue recently, so I knew I had to figure out a fool-proof formula for wearing these things. I mean, they’re just too fabulous to not wear all the time.
So I drew up this little illustration to help you style your tulle skirts too (and if it makes you realize how you neeeeeed one, my sister just created an easy tutorial!)
this is so carrie brad shaw and i love it!
So pretty! (and I like this one because it's more wispy (?) and less poofy. A nice difference).
Love this post!! I can't get enough of my tulle skirts lately!

So beautiful! I need one! (But I would feel a little silly wearing it at school, even though I'm pretty sure my girls would love it 🙂
Fabulous look and beautiful skirt.

I love this look so much! I've been really hesitant on buying a tulle skirt, but now I want one in black & white! xo
I love that skirt with the jean jacket. I love that it makes the skirt more casual for everyday wear. Perfection!

Loving that skirt styled in such a casual way! Do you know about how many items come in each box from I-ella? Or does it vary by month/price range?

There are three box options, all at different prices, which will determine how many things you get! The info is on their website!
Oooo gorgeous combo!! What program are you using for your little drawings? This one in particular is so cute.

Thank you! I just use my wacom tablet and photoshop 🙂
I love tulle skirts! I made one for myself awhile back, but I never really knew how to style it. Thanks for this.

I'm so glad you posted this because I just ordered myself one a few minutes ago! I can't wait to style and play with my tulle skirt. 🙂
So, I've been wanting to make a tulle skirt for the longest time but have been too afraid to start. I'm finally going to take the leap & go for it but I'm not sure what color to go with (except obviously white or ivory). Any suggestions on a cute color?
I actually really like the gray/blue, like my skirt in this post. Also a pale pink would be beautiful!
Great tips! I'm planning on making a tulle skirt and got a really pretty bright blue! Love yours as well!

ADORABLE!!!! By far one of my favorite outfits on you! And thanks for the great styling tips 🙂
love it 🙂
This is awesome. Is there any way to get that skirt without ordering a whole box? Or should I just use your tutorial instead?
I LOVE this! I have wanted one for a while. I'm not very petite but I'm gonna try to rock it. Actually I had been thinking about turning my wedding dress into a tulle skirt like what you've got on today. I thought it would be a great way to rework such a special piece! I just need to get around to doing it! 🙂
I looove how you styled it!! Never thought I would ever see an outfit with an tulle skirt that I would actually wear, but you always change my mind!!
May I ask which programme you use to draw your sketches?

I use Photoshop and my wacom tablet.
Lovely as always and your little illustrations are the cutest!
I have a black tulle skirt. It has less poof than yours. I went with a black top, red suede pumps, patterned black tights, a bubble necklace from J Crew and a white & black tux jacket. It was very female 007. I got so many compliments that night.
Thanks for showing me how to make it more of a day look.
