You guys, it’s finally here!!You have asked for a hair curling tutorial about a zillion times, and now I realize why I put it off for so long — it took me forever. So the video is long, but I tried to make it as thorough as possible so it would answer all of your questions.

But of course, if you have any other questions, leave a comment below.

The best news is that my curling wand is ON SALE right now — it’s only $39 (normally $149) and the code below will get you free shipping and a free gift. Offer ends September 16th.

Use code MERRICKGIFTS at checkout to activate the code.

I use the 25mm Magic Wand, but the offer applies to any of their wands.

And as always, I’d love if you’d give it a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel!
Happy Friday!!

Thanks for the video. SO HELPFUL!!! Can’t wait to try out your tips. 🙂

  2. Natali says:

    Your hair always looks flawless!!

  3. Stephanie says:

This is great, but I’d love to know how to keep the curls intact for more than a day. I’ve tried a bun at night, or even two buns, and I always have to re-curl at least part of it in the morning. What’s your trick?

    • Merrick says:

I touch up my curls every day — they don’t last for a whole week without having to re-curl them. And I sleep in a high, loose pony at night (use a scrunchy or something so it doesn’t create a bump)!

  4. Grace says:

Thank you for this tutorial! I love your hair and follow all your tips for hair washing as well. I even have my friend hooked on your hair wash tutorial as well.

  5. Deanne Rhynard says:

Can you please list your products as well?

  6. I’ve always had a problem trying to curl my hair. Tip no 2 and 4 were really helpful. Thanks a lot. 🙂

  7. Peppermint Dolly says:

Awesome tutorial! Really enjoyed that – thanks a mill!

  8. Sharon Huxford says:

    What are beachy curls?

  9. Jenna says:

So what happened with the Living Proof products? Would you no longer recommend those?

    • Merrick says:

I definitely still recommend! I just get sent a lot of different products to try so I’ve been trying out different ones. But the living proof products are fantastic — especially their dry shampoo!

  10. Diana says:

I watched your video and decided to try it out (with my normal curling iron). Loved it! It created a completely different more effortless look than the spirals. Thanks for inspiring creativity in us that follow your blog!

  11. Sandy says:

Love the curls! Can you talk more about your color?

  12. Shawn says:

Just ordered mine—-great discount, and a very helpful tutorial for the “hair impaired” like me. 🙂 Thanks!

  13. Kristin M. says:

Just ordered a new one as well and send the link to this post to like 5 of my girlfriends! Thanks for the tutorial and discount code!

  14. Katie says:

I’ve been thinking about getting living proof products and you talked about them in some of your earlier posts but aren’t using any in this tutorial! Just wondering if you think they work still?

  15. Erin says:

Where are the shorts from in the first picture with the white top? : )

  16. Really random question, but what do you do when you shower? How do you keep the steam from the shower from weighing your curls down and having them fall out? I’m so tired of washing my hair everyday and your technique sounds so easy! Thanks for sharing.

    • Merrick says:

I pull it up in a bun and then when I’m out of the shower I let it down and let it COMPLETELY dry again. Then dry shampoo and touch up any curls that need a little boost. Hope that helps!

  17. Carrie says:

I know you said you usually just wash your hair once a week. Do you workout? I do almost everyday and my hair just gets really greasy from the salty sweat on my head. I’m wondering how to go a week without washing if that’s the case. Any tips are so appreciated!!! Loved the tutorial!

    • merrickwhite says:

yes, I do workout! I just let the sweat air-dry, and then use a good amount of dry shampoo. I create parts all along my head and spray along the part so the hair gets nice and clean. It works!!

  18. Becky says:

Ive tried sO many dIfferent hair curling methods And tutorials, but this is my fave!!!! So glad I found it. So fast and easy and perfect for every day curls! Thanks!!!

  19. Sophie says:

Lovely loose curls, I have a beach wedding to go to coming up and this style would be perfect, especially with some flower clips or a hair vine.

  20. Anne says:

So who do you buy your hair products through? I was just looking through amazon and there have been some that say they are watered down, or fake, etc.

  21. […] then pull my curls so they don’t end up too tight and ringlet-y. I made a video of how I curl my hair RIGHT HERE that you can watch. The tighter curls, even when pulled, last much longer. Using a 1 1/2″ or 2″ barrel […]
