What Shoes to Wear With Full-Length Jeans

Cropped and ankle-length jeans have been in for ages, but full-length jeans are making a major comeback. Here are what shoes to wear with full-length jeans!

Do you own full-length jeans? We’ve been wearing cropped jeans for years, between skinny jeans and cropped straight leg jeans. So we haven’t had to deal with full length pants in ages.

Now that they’re back, I’ve had a million requests for a post about what shoes to wear with these jeans. So here’s a full breakdown of what shoes to wear with full-length jeans.

The full length jeans I’m wearing in this post:

  • Straight leg light wash jeans in a shorter full length style
    • This is more of a trendy style. I’m wearing THESE JEANS in a size 26.
  • Dark wash jeans in a wider leg/flare longer full length style.
    • I’m wearing THESE JEANS in a size XS in the regular length. Code MERRICKXSPANX works for 10% off plus free shipping and returns.
  • Mid wash medium full leg in a mid full length style.
    • I’m wearing THESE JEANS in a size 26. Code 20MERRICK works for 20% off for new customers.

What Shoes to Wear With Full-Length Jeans

What shoes work with these shorter, straight leg, full length jeans?

First up, light wash straight leg jeans. These have a shorter length that hits at the top of my foot, rather than going all the way to the ground.

Above are a few shoes I would pair with them, and a few I would not pair with them.

Here are a few takeaways based on the graphic above.

  • I’d recommend choosing shoes that cover MORE of your foot when wearing these shorter full length jeans. That will help avoid the high water feel.
  • With the shorter length of pant, choose FLAT shoes. Heels make it look funky.
  • With boots, choose tops and jackets that will help balance a heavier shoe.
  • When in doubt, choose a slim pair of shoes over a chunkier pair of shoes.

What shoes work with these longer, wider, dark wash, full length jeans?

These Spanx jeans are extremely long and a wider, fuller leg, plus they’re in a darker wash so they feel a little more dressy.

Above are a few shoes I’d wear with them, or wouldn’t wear with them.

Here are a few takeaways based on the graphic above.

  • A heeled shoe with these jeans is absolutely necessary. They’re extremely long and if you don’t wear heels, they bunch and drag on the ground.
  • I showed one pair of flats, and didn’t bother taking pictures with any other flat shoes or sneakers, since they’d all look about the same. You can see with the leopard flats that the pants are obviously WAY too long.
  • Try different styles of heeled shoes with almond shaped toes, rounded toes, and pointed toes, and see what works best for your outfit and your look.

What shoes work with these mid rinse, wider leg, full length jeans?

These Faherty Jeans are the most versatile of the jeans I showed, in my opinion, because the length works for so many different shoes.

Here are a few takeaways based on the graphic above.

  • This length of jean works when it’s right at about floor length with some shoes, and a little higher with some shoes. I wouldn’t wear a shoe that makes them more than 1 1/2″ off the ground, but you have flexibility in your shoe choices.
  • Slimmer cut shoes work better to avoid a clunky foot look.
  • If you wear a heavier shoe, pair it with a heavier top (chunky sweater or heavier coat) to balance the outfit and make it not so bottom heavy.

The main takeaway:

Not all full length jeans are going to work with every shoe, and not all full length jeans are the same as each other, so it’s important to pay attention to how the shoes affect your outfit and overall look.

I hope this is helpful!
