Let’s talk about layering shirts! As the weather cools down, I love layering shirts together. Here are some tips for nailing the layered look.
Layering shirts and sweaters is easier than you think!
I love layering shirts and sweaters during the fall and winter. It’s an easy way to keep warm as the weather cools, but also adds some great dimension to any outfit.
Here are 6 easy layering ideas for fall, and how to nail the layering look every time.
1. Layering a striped shirt under a sweater
This is one of my favorite layering techniques. It adds such a fun pop of pattern underneath a simple sweater!
Tip: choose your most lightweight tee so it doesn’t add bulk underneath (a short sleeve tee works too!), and then choose a sweater that isn’t too thin. A thinner sweater will get lumpy when a tee is layered underneath.
This is such a chic and sophisticated look! You could do this combination under any jacket (not just an olive jacket), and you could do it with dress pants instead of jeans if you wanted a more office-appropriate look.
Tip: Choose a sweater that’s medium weight. Thinner sweaters will show every lump of the dress shirt underneath!
Sleeveless dresses are so fun to layer! I found this cute red dress a few years ago, and it would be really chic by itself, but a layered striped turtleneck underneath makes it really fun and different.
Tip: tissue turtlenecks work best because they’re so lightweight! And tuck your turtleneck (or other top) into your undergarments or shapewear to keep things as smooth as possible under your dress.
This is one of my favorite tricks for winter. Layer a sweater over a dress! Use a hair tie to create a “ponytail” in the front of your shirt or sweater, and then tuck the ponytail up and under. Pin in place if needed. It creates a really cozy, flattering look!
Tip: This works best on medium weight sweaters and shirts. Lightweight will show the ponytail underneath, and heavy knit sweaters will get bulky with a ponytail underneath.

GOOD BARBER SHOPS NEAR ME BECAUSE SPENDING LONG HOURS SITTING AT A DESK OR IN FRONT OF A SCREEN CAN HAVE A NEGATIVE IMPACT ON OUR OVERALL HEALTH, INCLUDING OUR HAIR. WHEN WE SIT FOR EXTENDED PERIODS, WE REDUCE BLOOD CIRCULATION TO THE SCALP, WHICH CAN LEAD TO HAIR LOSS AND THINNING. ADDITIONALLY, SITTING IN A HUNCHED POSITION CAN CAUSE TENSION IN THE NECK AND SHOULDERS, LEADING TO HEADACHES AND A DECREASE IN BLOOD FLOW TO THE SCALP.
TO COMBAT THE EFFECTS OF A SEDENTARY LIFESTYLE ON YOUR HAIR, IT’S IMPORTANT TO TAKE BREAKS AND MOVE AROUND THROUGHOUT THE DAY. EVEN A SHORT WALK OR SOME STRETCHING CAN INCREASE BLOOD FLOW AND PROMOTE HAIR HEALTH. CONSIDER INCORPORATING SCALP MASSAGES INTO YOUR DAILY ROUTINE AS WELL, AS THIS CAN STIMULATE BLOOD FLOW AND HELP NOURISH YOUR HAIR FOLLICLES.
Excited about this! I have a sweatshirt that is too short based on where the band falls – i think cropping it to be without the band will be perfect!
