My Week in Outfits: Real Life Looks for a Busy Mom

mom outfit

One of the most common things I hear is “I don’t know what to wear for my actual life.” Not a photoshoot. Not a vacation. Just a regular week with school pickups, work, errands, and everything in between.

Here’s exactly what I wore last week! Seven days, seven outfits, all real. I hope it gives you a starting point or at least some ideas you can copy.

Outfit 1: Monday

This is one of those outfits that takes about 30 seconds to put together and somehow still looks cute. The MOM sweatshirt is fun for obvious reasons, and the cap pulls the whole thing together without requiring any other accessories. If you have a game or practice to get to, this is your uniform.

Why it works: a graphic sweatshirt does all the styling work so you don’t have to think.

Outfit 2: Tuesday

The utility jacket is one of the most underrated layering pieces out there right now. It gives a casual outfit a little more intention without being fussy. The colorful beaded necklace is the detail that makes it. It adds personality without requiring anything else. I’ve been wearing this necklace constantly.

Why it works: Layering a jacket over a simple top and jeans is one of the easiest formulas for looking put-together on a busy day.

Outfit 3: Wednesday

I love this outfit because the added scarf is doing all the heavy lifting. The floral scarf at the bottom of the sweater makes it look much more styled than it actually is. It’s a great way to add a little print and color without committing to a full printed look. The woven flats are comfortable enough for a full day and go with everything.

Why it works: Layering a printed scarf with a solid sweater is a simple styling trick that looks intentional and interesting.

Outfit 4: Thursday

I know this sounds like a lot but I promise it’s going to work. The lavender and the polka dot print are both soft enough that they play well together. The trick is the black boots and bag anchoring everything so the outfit doesn’t feel too sweet. This is one of my favorites because it feels really current and is also genuinely comfortable.

Why it works: pairing a soft, solid cardigan with a bold print skirt and keeping the shoes and bag in the same neutral keeps the look cohesive.

Outfit 5: Friday

The denim jacket over a maxi dress is such a good combination. It makes the dress feel more casual and practical for daytime without losing any of the ease that makes a dress great in the first place. The platform sandals add a little height but still feel relaxed. This outfit works for so many occasions and requires almost no thought.

Why it works: a denim jacket instantly makes a dress feel more wearable and laid-back without sacrificing the simplicity of a one-piece outfit.

Outfit 6: Saturday

Red and white is such a good combination right now. The eyelet fabric on the top gives it a little texture and keeps it from reading too casual, even though the jeans are the same white wide leg style. The woven Mary Janes are the perfect shoe for this look. Easy, comfortable, and they go with so much. This is the kind of outfit you wear to brunch and get five compliments on.

Why it works: a bold color on top with clean white jeans is a simple, high-impact formula that always looks put-together.

Outfit 7: Sunday

I know this can feel like a lot of color and print, but stay with me. The green in the sweater picks up the green in the skirt print, and the brown bag ties back to the warm tones in the sandals. The necklace is the finishing touch that makes it feel really complete. This is a Sunday outfit that could also work for a summer event, brunch, or any occasion where you want to look like you really got dressed.

Why it works: pulling one color from a printed skirt and using it in your top creates a coordinated look without being overly matchy.

That’s the whole week. Some days I had more energy to get dressed than on others, and I think that’s reflected in these outfits. The point is that you don’t need a complicated wardrobe or a lot of time. You just need a few pieces you actually like and some easy formulas to fall back on. I hope this helps!!

i don’t care at all for the scarf tied around the waist. maybe it works for you who are slender and all, but for normal people, it only accentuates and adds bulk to a zone nobody wants to put the spotlight on
