Freezer meals are great to have on hand during those busy weeks. Here are some tips to prep a bunch of freezer meals at once, and recipes for my favorites!

Have you ever made freezer meals? I love having them on hand – they truly make dinner time so much simpler. Today I’m sharing how to prep freezer meals and a few good recipes!

What is a freezer meal?

A freezer meal is a make ahead meal where everything is in a bag or a baking dish, ready to toss in the crockpot, a pan, a pot, or the oven. All the veggies and meat is pre-chopped as needed, sauces and spices are included, and baking instructions are on the outside of the bag so you can just defrost and start cooking.

How to make a freezer meal

The easiest way to make freezer meals is to do all the prep work at once. This is the easiest and most efficient way, and then you’ve got dinners ready for weeks to come!

Buy all your meats, veggies, sauces, spices, and anything else you need, prep according to the instructions, place in a freezer safe bag or container, and then keep in the freezer until it’s time to cook.

The key to make freezer meal prep super easy

My secret weapon with freezer meals is to use my Walmart+ membership. I signed up in 2020 when it wasn’t as easy to go into the stores, and having groceries delivered to my house since then has been an absolute game changer. When all your groceries show up at your doorstep, along with freezer bags and foil pans and whatever else you night need, it makes it super easy to put together these freezer meals.

I just choose 5-10 recipes, order my groceries through the Walmart app, and then they’re delivered as soon as today (with free shipping) right on my door step, with no order minimum. They’re delivered from your local store, so the ingredients are super fresh AND they’re the same low everyday prices you’ll find in store — they do not mark them up when they’re delivering!

Once all your groceries have arrived, wash and prep everything, assemble your bags, label them, and toss them in the freezer. Literally so easy! You can make 10 meals in an hour or two and then they’re ready to cook.

I’m serious, our Walmart+ membership has been the best investment, not just for freezer meals. It saves me tons of time going to the grocery store each week, it’s so easy to order through the app, you save on fuel at participating gas station locations, and there’s zero delivery fees on my weekly grocery orders. I recommend it to everyone! If you want to try it, check if it’s in your area and and try their free trial RIGHT HERE!

An extra tip for making freezer meals

As long as you’re prepping everything, make two or more of each meal so you have two freezer bags of each recipe. Spread out when you serve them so you’re not eating the same things two weeks in a row, but as long as you’re purchasing the ingredients, you might as well double everything and make two.

Make it fun with friends

If it seems like it’s going to be boring to prep freezer meals for two hours, invite some girlfriends over and do it together! Have everyone bring ingredients for one recipe, but have them bring enough to make a bag for each friend. Then everyone makes their one recipe, each girl goes home with a bag of it, and everyone has fun together!
