Yes, this little dude still moves around a ton and I’m constantly getting kicked in the ribs, but besides that, my basketball sized stomach hardly bothers me at all and I often forget that it’s even there (until I try to squeeze through a small space and get stuck…).
Along with this weird phase comes some shopping troubles. I’ve been wanting to pick up a few new things for fall, but do I buy maternity clothes? Or non maternity clothes? I’m gravitating toward the non-maternity sections because in my mind I will totally fit into them, and even once I remember that I won’t, I tell myself, “in another 6 1/2 weeks I won’t be pregnant anymore, so better to think ahead.” But 6 1/2 weeks is still quite a ways away, and these last few weeks are probably the most important time to have maternity clothes as I get bigger by the moment.
So to compromise, I pick the flowiest top I can find and buy a size up — which is exactly what I did with this bird print top from Old Navy that I’m wearing. It’ll probably become a tight squeeze through these last six weeks, and then I’ll probably be drowning in it once that pregnant belly is gone, but it seemed like a good idea at the time, and at least I have something to fit into right this moment as my closet possibilites shrink ever smaller.
See? These are the problems that I’m dealing with. High stress and urgently important, obviously.
I really like this outfit in all its simplicity. It doesn't overemphasize your baby bump and i think expectant mothers could really borrow a leaf from your style.
Buying clothes when going through a transition can be tricky!! I think buying for the moment is good. Buying for the future can be uncertain because it's a bit difficult knowing what size you'll be.

I follow you on Bloglovin' and I'll be honest…I've been skipping a lot of your posts recently just because I'm neither a mother nor very crafty (not on a regular basis anyway). But I still love your outfit posts because I can always see myself wearing a non-maternity version of whatever you're wearing! This is super cute.

LOVE that shirt. You look amazing. You and Janssen inspire me to not look like a total frump for 9 months.
We totally need to start a swap of "maternity friendly but will swim in when not pregnant" clothing.
Loving your new series too.
Those shoes are super cute! Well of course all of it is. 😉
Hey Merrick! Are those shoes really comfortable? I've been thinking about getting them during Payless's BOGO event, but I have a hard time with heels. Thanks!

Ahhh I love that belt! Cute outfit! And good thing you're a whiz at refashioning–maybe you can do something later if the top is too big?
It still looks like pregnancy does you well!

So pretty… And you give style hope to pregnant women everywhere! That top is adorable! 🙂
Love it and holy tiny belly batwoman! You look perfectly adorable. I have that top in the white with blue polkadots and it is one of my faves 🙂
Adorable! You are the tiniest, cutest little pregnant woman!

But just think; it'll be a tight squeeze for a little while, and then when you're no longer preggo and are swimming in it, you can refashion it! 😀
Regardless of the future, this top looks adorable here! I just love the way you wore it with the skinny jeans and belt.
The Blue Hour
You look great! I hope I look like you when I'm prego. Still super tiny with a cute belly 🙂 Love your top!

Are you doing pilates at home with a video? If so, could you tell me the name of the dvd? I am also pregnant and am looking for good workout videos to take me through the whole pregnancy.
Thanks!
PS You look fantastic!
K you are teeny! I can't believe you're that far along already!
I have this same top and recently posted about it on my blog. You look WAY cuter in it!!

Yes, I am doing pilates at home with a knocked-up fitness dvd (http://knocked-upfitness.com/). They're not the most rigorous exercises, but at this point I'm more interested in exercises that stretch and tone (which is exactly what these do). I'd highly recommend her videos — they're great!
Hi new reader! Congrats on your pregnancy! You look beautiful, love your outfit too!
Hi Merrick! I found your blog via Pinterest a while ago and love it! I've used a few of your sewing and re-fashioning lessons to make and fix clothes. The shoes you found are so cute, I went to Payless today and bought them! I never would have thought to look there for work shoes. Thank you!
I absolutely love this. They turned out beautifully.
