Before we left Utah, I really wanted to get some family pictures taken. Obviously we wanted the baby in the photos, and obviously I wanted as much time after he was born before we took them so I could look as non-pregnant as possible, but with Philip already working out in California, we took our one opportunity when he was home for a weekend and got them done.

Buck was only two weeks old and it was about 15 degrees outside, so none of us were really thrilled to be out there, but Marie did an awesome job and I’m beyond thrilled with how they turned out.

Here’s a few of our favorites.

favorite, favorite!

Last year, when we visited Texas, we enlisted Ralphie’s help with this recreated family photo. In addition to the group shots, Ralphie took this one of my little family.

However, there was only the one shot, and I wanted to give Ralphie another chance to capture our little family in a more casual style. So as we planned our trip to Texas this year, I asked her to do a little photo session with us. She was more than willing. She brought a few fun props, was so good with Peanut (even though he was super grumpy and hot for most of it), was great at getting us to feel natural in front of the camera, and even let me borrow her belt. Now that is the kind of photographer you want to work with..right?

The cd of images just showed up three days ago and I have literally looked through them fifty times already. I. love. them. so. much. I had sent her a few photos ideas showing the look and feel I was going for, but the rest was all her. They are perfect. I love how most of them are not posed family shots, but rather moments that she captures as we play together.

Now all I need is a bigger house so I can print, frame and hang every single one of them.
