Combat boots are this season’s hottest boot trend. They come in lots of different varieties, but I’m showing you a classic pair and some easy combat boots outfits so you can wear them well!
Need some ideas for combat boots outfits?
Combat boots are the biggest trend in boots this season. They’re fun, unexpected, and a little bit masculine. But they are also tall and chunky and figuring out combat boots outfits can be tricky!
So today I’m excited to share 4 ways to wear combat boots, with some fun and simple outfit ideas.
Looking for a pair of combat boots to add to your closet?
I’ve rounded up a few pairs of great combat boots if you’re looking to add a pair to your closet. I mixed in some that are just lace up, and less “combat” looking.
Here are a few other women with different body types wearing black combat boots
Every week in my 4 WAYS TO WEAR IT series, I want to show you the item on other body types and ages, so you can see it on more than just me. Check out all these gorgeous women wearing combat boots.

Check out these four outfits with combat boots
#1. A black jeans and black combat boots outfit are an easy combination
A pair of black jeans is a great option with your combat boots. You’ll want to do a super skinny pair that can tuck right into your boots, or a wider leg pair that goes out and over your combat boots (so the boots just tuck up inside).
To balance out the outfit, try a cropped jacket on top, or a hoodie!

#2. Leggings and combat boots are great together in an outfit
Try your combat boots with black leggings. You can do regular leggings (these are my favorite everyday leggings) or a pair of faux leather leggings.
And then pair with an oversized sweater or a winter coat to balance out the super skinny fit of the leggings.

#3. Try your combat boots with light wash or boyfriend jeans
This combination is a little tricky, with a dark shoe and a lighter wash jean, but you can do it! I’d recommend choosing a pair of jeans that are either wider in the leg so it’s a nice contrast with a slim lace up boot, OR a pair of skinny fit light wash jeans that sit nicely right at the top of your boots. You don’t want a gap of leg to show with these taller boots!
The goal is to keep your ankle slim so you don’t get chunky ankles. That instantly makes your legs look shorter and wider.
Balance the light wash with a darker top so you balance the dark shoes on bottom.

#4. Combat boots with a dress look so cool!
It’s definitely a more edgy style, but a pair of combat boots with a dress can be so fun. You can wear them with or without tights (if you need a little more warmth), and choose a dress in a dark color, or with a dark print so the boots don’t feel so heavy on your lower half.
This dress is loose and flowy, so I added a black belt to define my waist.
