Cropped flare jeans are super trendy right now, and I think they’re such a fun style of jeans for the rest of summer and into fall. Here are four easy ways to wear them.
Have you tried the cropped flare jeans trend?
I picked up these cropped flare jeans at the Nordstrom sale a few weeks ago and although I was super unsure about them at first, I’ve loved them.
I found
these jeans to run a little bit big. I tried on my normal size and there was a gap in the waist at the back, so I sized down one size.
I was scared of this style of jean at first!
I’ve been a skinny jeans girl for years, so trying a new style of jeans like this was definitely out of comfort zone. But as with all scary things, you get better at it with practice. So I just kept wearing them and the more I wore them, the more I fell in love with them.
Can different body types wear cropped flare jeans?
Absolutely. Let me show you a few examples of other body types wearing cropped flare jeans before I show you my outfit ideas.

Check out these four outfit ideas
#1. Wear this style of jeans with t-shirt and sandals for summer
An easy outfit for summer (and one I’ve been wearing often) is with a basic tee tucked into the cropped flare jeans.
The tucked in shirt defines your waist (which is important with this style of jeans that goes in and out as they move down your body), and a beige sandal elongates your legs.

#2. Wear them with a blazer and flats
If you work in an office, or need a more casual business casual look, this is a great outfit option. It feels sophisticated, but the soft stretchy jeans and the sweater blazer make it super comfortable.

#3. Try these jeans with a taller ankle boot and fitted jacket
I’m still working through different ways to wear ankle boots with cropped flare jeans, because I see lots of women wearing them and there’s a gap between the hem of her jeans and the top of her ankle boots.
I think it works with an ankle boot that’s close to the color of your skin (like these tan ones on me), but a darker ankle boot would make the skin of my ankle stand out and look funky.
If you wear a tall enough ankle boot so there’s no gap, that totally works. But if your ankle boots are lower and there is a gap, choose a pair that’s close to your skin color.

#4. Try these jeans with an oversized sweater and sneakers
I love this outfit so much. An oversized sweater looks super cute half tucked into these jeans, and a low cut sneaker allows your leg line to continue and not get cut off.

My advice about cropped flares and ankle boots is this:
- Choose low cut ankle boots so there’s a good sized gap between your jean hem and your shoe
- Choose super tall ankle boots so there’s no gap.
- If your ankle boots shaft height is mid height, and there is a gap, choose a pair that’s closest to your skin color.
** Look at the collage of different body types above and see how all those girls either have low cut shoes, skin colored shoes/boots, or tall enough ankle-hugging boots that disappear into their jeans!
