Pullover sweaters are an absolute closet essential as we head into fall. They come in all varieties, and are endlessly versatile. I’ve rounded up 24 really amazing ones!
A little overview of the closet staples series
If you’re new here, I do a monthly closet staples series here on Merrick’s Art! It’s a way for you to really look at your closet and find the gaps. This isn’t the end-all-be-all kind of list, this is the foundation of a good wardrobe.
I do two posts a month, one with shopping options, and one with outfit ideas. You can see them all RIGHT HERE!
Let’s talk about pullover sweaters.
There are lots of kinds of sweaters, but today I want to talk about pullover sweaters specifically. These are the staples of your closet during the fall that you can layer with button up shirts, tuck into skirts, wear with jeans or leggings, etc.
There are plenty of amazing sweaters with details and prints and ruffles, but today I want to share more basic, essential kinds of sweaters that are more versatile and are staples in your closet. Although I did throw in a few fun ones!
There are a few basic sweaters you should have in your closet!
Two super basic sweaters you could have in your closet are a black cashmere sweater with a scoop or v-neck, and a cream cable knit sweater. They’re endlessly versatile, and will stay in style forever.
I’ll be finding and sharing lots more fun printed and detailed sweaters throughout the fall and winter and will be sharing those here on Merrick’s Art and also on My Instagram. Also I’ll be sharing CARDIGANS here on the blog later this month!
But today is more about the BASIC PULLOVER SWEATERS you should have in your closet.
Colors of pullover sweaters that are super versatile
If you’re looking for the most versatile colors of sweaters, stick to neutrals.
Black, white, cream/ivory, tan, and bright camel will be the most versatile and stay in style forever.
