Do you feel like you’re still stuck in your high school clothes? Here are some basic outfits to help you get out of a rut and begin to refresh your closet.
I get so many messages from followers who feel like their still stuck in their high school clothes. They don’t really know where or what to shop for to get out of a rut and refresh their wardrobe. Here are some good basic outfits to get you started, if this is your issue!
Easy outfits if you’re stuck in your high school clothes
1. Jeans, basic sweater, basic sneakers
A pair of basic jeans are a must. If you have ones from high school that fit you well, you can stick with those. If not, it’s time to get a new pair or two. Basic sweaters in neutral colors are a great closet staple that will be super versatile. And a pair of sleek sneakers is a must have for your closet and will go with so many things.
2. Joggers, tee, denim jacket, and sneakers
A pair of joggers is a great pair of elevated casual pants. You can wear them lots of different ways, but a super simple way if you’re just trying to get out of your high school clothes, is to wear with a striped or solid tee, a denim jacket, and simple sneakers. All of these are basics you should have in your closet!
3. Sweatshirt and jeans with sneakers
A basic graphic sweatshirt or plain sweatshirt is a great casual alternative to a sweater. You can pair with straight leg or skinny or wide leg jeans…whatever works for your style! Add a pair of cute sneakers and you have a basic but easy outfit.
4. Leggings and a t-shirt
Leggings are another good casual pant option if you don’t want to wear jeans. Pair with a basic tee (you can do striped, solid, or graphic tee!) and then tie a shirt around your waist for a little extra bum coverage. Add some cute sneakers or boots or flats, and you have a really basic but cute outfit.
5. Leggings and coat
Another easy way to wear leggings, especially in the winter, is with a sweater and mid-length coat. The coat gives you bum coverage, and the sweater keeps you warm and cozy. Sneakers and the baseball hat create a casual feel that matches the leggings. These are basic pieces you can mix and match, and you can add jeans instead of leggings!
6. Straight leg jeans and sweatshirt
Straight leg jeans are here to stay, so if you’re getting out of your high school clothes, they’re a good option to try. Find a pair that fits you well in the waist and isn’t too bunchy in the crotch even with a looser fit. Add a cute basic top, and sneakers or flats or boots…whatever you feel comfortable in!
I hope those outfit ideas are helpful if you’re getting out of a high school clothing rut!
