Athleisure outfits are so comfortable and quick to throw on. But, there are a few tips to making these outfits look intentional and put together while remaining comfy and quick.
Living in sweatpants, joggers, and leggings may sound like a dream, but it can be easy to get stuck in a rut with athleisure outfits. I’m sharing a few tips today that will help you put together more intentional and complete athleisure outfits without sacrificing comfort and ease!
These are the kinds of outfits you can wear for mom life and still feel cute and put together, or wear on the weekend for sports games, or add to your exercise outfits after the gym for running errands.
Don’t be afraid of wearing these super casual kinds of pieces — here’s how to wear them without looking sloppy.
4 Cute Athleisure Outfits on Two Body Types
I enlisted Kristy’s help to show these athleisure outfits so you can see how these tips can work on different body types. I promise you can make these super casual pieces look cute and pulled together!
Here are three tips for wearing athleisure outfits well:
-
Add accessories – hats, jewelry, and bags all add to the overall athleisure look
-
Sophisticated layers make it look purposeful – Add a denim jacket, a coat, or a vest to make an athletic outfit feel more purposeful and less like just gym clothes.
-
Check your shoe choice – Instead of grungy gym sneakers or flip flops, try a cute modern sneaker or a pair of leather sandals to keep your outfit feeling elevated.
Athleisure Outfit #1: leggings, zip up, coat and sneakers
Everyone loves a good pair of leggings! An easy cold weather athleisure outfit is a pair of leggings with a zip up kind of top, then a coat layered over the top and a pair of sneakers to finish it off.
If your athleisure pieces are neutral, add a pair of fun printed sneakers! If your athleisure pieces are more bold, stick to more neutral sneakers, like white, black, gray, or tan.
The coat is your sophisticated layer, but don’t forget accessories. Add a pair of earrings, a baseball cap, or a cute bag to finish the look.

Athleisure Outfit #2: matching set with coat or jacket
Matching sets are so popular right now and I’m here for them! We found these cute ones on Amazon that are great quality and a good price. They have good structure so they don’t feel so much like pajamas, and with a pair of cute sneakers and a coat over the top they definitely feel more like a real outfit than pjs.
Kristy got her set in that cute teal color, but with the matching bottoms it felt just too teal, so leggings with her hoodie were a better choice for her.
If you’re worried about a matching set, try a dark, neutral color like navy or black… they’re easier to wear!
And of course don’t forget some jewelry to make the outfit feel purposeful! A pair of simple earrings or a few layered necklaces go a long way.

Athleisure Outfit #3: leggings and pullover
I love a leggings and tunic kind of look, and this is an easy one you can do if you’ve left the gym and you’re heading out for errands or a day with the kids. Add a long pullover that covers your booty and feels purposeful.
Swap your exercise shoes for cute sneakers, add a baseball hat or some jewelry, and you’re good to go!

Athleisure Outfit #4: joggers, tee, and a jacket
I love wearing joggers in athleisure outfits. They’re super comfortable, cute, and a pair of black ones are so versatile.
Add a basic tee (try a graphic tee, striped tee, or plain colored tee) and then add a jacket. You could do an olive green jacket, denim jacket, or a puffer coat for a warmer casual look.
A good pair of sneakers and some cute accessories will finish this athleisure look off perfectly.
