Want to know the secret of how to grow eyelashes super long? I’ve got it. This eyelash serum gives you the look of extensions without the upkeep or the damage! Plus I’m sharing my favorite mascara and primer.

Want to know how to grow eyelashes long and ditch your extensions?

Eyelash extensions are so popular right now, but after trying them myself a few years ago and having them ruin my natural eyelashes, I realized that a great mascara and a lash serum could give me the extension look without the upkeep and the damage. Let me show you how to grow eyelashes with an easy product.

The two eyelash serums I’ve used and loved

For me, the secret for how to grow eyelashes is a growth serum. There are lots of different ones out there, and some even swear by straight castor oil on the eyelids. I tried this and it didn’t work for me.

Here are two serums I used that had no negative side effects and worked really well to help me grow my lashes super long.

What is a lash boost serum?

Lash serum is basically like vitamins for your eyelashes.  They’re full of biotin, peptides, essential B vitamins, Sodium hyaluronate, and other nutrients that hydrate your lashes and help them grow faster.

Why I tried an eyelash serum

I only did eyelash extensions once, back in 2016, and after six weeks they had completely ruined my lashes. The day I took them off, I had ten stubby eyelashes on each lid and I cried. So I immediately purchased Neulash to help grown them back in.

Within 3 months, my lashes were the longest and healthiest they’d ever been!

How do I apply it?

Every night before bed, swipe it onto your eyelids, just like liquid eyeliner. It comes in a tube with a tiny applicator brush, and one dip into the vial gives you enough serum for both lash lines. Don’t put it on your lower lashes, and don’t rub your eyes after application.

Does it bother your eyes?

No! With both of the serums I used, my eyelids felt a little itchy right after application for the first week. Kind of like that feeling when you put lotion on really dry skin. But after that initial week, it never bothered me again.

I’ve seen some eyelash serums that make your eyes red — neither of these ever did that to me.

How long does it take to see results?

The hardest part is being patient, and sticking with it every night until you see results. Within 6-8 weeks you start to see longer, thicker, fuller-looking lashes.

How long should I use this serum?

After purchasing my first bottle of Neulash, I put it on every night for about six months. At that point, my lashes had reached their longest and fullest, and I began applying it three times a week, and then once a week a few months after that. That first bottle lasted me nine months, I think.

Do your lashes stop growing once you stop using the serum?

For me, yes. I stopped using Neulash after I ran out of the first bottle, and after a few months my lashes went back to more of a normal length. Still long, but not crazy long and thick like they were while I was using the serum.

In 2018, I tried Avon lash activating serum, and saw very similar results to my first run with Neulash. In about 4 weeks, I saw growth, and in 6-8 weeks they were as long as my original results.

Since 2018, I have continued to apply a swipe of serum (alternating between Neulash and Avon) every week or two, and my lashes have maintained their super long length!

So there’s very little upkeep, but you do need to continue to use it semi-frequently to see long-term results.

Now let’s talk about mascara

Even with super long eyelashes, you still need mascara to really show off the length. I have two products that I’ve used for years that I really love.

This mascara primer goes underneath your mascara and helps your lashes look fuller, helps your mascara stay on all day (no drooping lashes), and also keeps your mascara from flaking off. Hallelujah.

It’s $6 on Amazon and will change your life, trust me.

I’ve been using this mascara for 2 years and it’s amazing. It makes my lashes look thicker, longer, darker, and fuller. Plus, it’s waterproof, but it comes off easily when I wash my face at night.

Just so you can see the difference, here’s a little before and after of my lashes. This was 2018, when I’d already done Neulash two years before, and hadn’t done extensions at all since before Neulash. My lashes had gone back to a normal length. You can see after 6 weeks the difference in length.

These photos are both WITHOUT mascara.

Both of them are fairly pricey for the size of the bottle and for a beauty product, BUT if you’re currently paying for lash extensions, it’ll save you a ton of money in the long run.

You’re eyelashes look great! What primer do you use?

  3. Victoria Brandenburg says:

Could you email me an answer to a question? I have extensions, and look horrible without them, now that my real lashes are so very short, ( damaged). Can this serum be used while still wearing extensions?

    • Merrick says:

that’s a good question, and although I’m not an expert or a professional I’d say that you totally could do it simultaneously. Especially because results take 4-6 weeks to starting being noticeable. But I’d definitely ask your lash person!

  4. Caitlin Spratling says:

Hi! Can you tell me How long a tube of the eyelash serum lasts?

  5. Helena says:

You are right, taking care of your eyelashes and such extensions is always a complex process. Usually my lashes are done at the local beauty salon in Fort Lauderdale, although I’ve always wanted to get one at home. I think this serum might be a good option

  6. Mariah says:

Just curious about lower lashes…is it advised not to put it on lower or do you just prefer not to? My lower lasHes could use some help too.

I really like how your lashes look, although they are long and thick and without mascara, as for me! I am usually saved by eyelash extensions, an excellent service that really works with natural looking eyelashes. For me, this is more convenient because I do not need to make up every day, and due to high-quality materials, my eyelashes do not deteriorate and do not fall out, they look well-groomed

This is helpful info! My question is what do you use to remove your waterproof mascara at noght? Ive used one for yeaRs, but it doesn‘t seem to be as effective as it used to be.

You guys could also try mixing in a bit of coconut oil and castor oil. Mix it and then put it in a microwave safe bowl and microwave it for 30 secs. You can gently rub the oils onto your eyelashes or you can use a mascara wand that is clean and has no mascara. I usually put the oil on my lashes at night and go to bed with the oil on. This is some extra info about what the oils do: castor oil helps thicken your lashes and it helps it grow and the coconut oil also helps grow your lashes so combining the two would do great things to your lashes. I think you can also try using petroleum jelly on your lashes if you dont have these two oils to grow them or moisturize them (idk if it really works but if you guys have a jar of vaseline it wouldn’t hurt to try doing this for a atleast 1-2 weeks and see if there were any results) but I really recommend you guys get them. They can also be used for your hair for hair growth and the castor oil can thicken hair. Anyway, I’m a new subscriber after watching your acne vid and I’m currently trying to get rid of my acne. I might try to get some of the products you recommended to see what’ll work for me! Thanks for the ARTICLE btw
