Puffer vest outfits are great for winter, especially with athletic outfits! This post will show you some tips for wearing puffer vests in your outfits.Â
Why the “before” puffer vest outfit needs improvements:
The length of the sweatshirt underneath is too long compared to the vest, and it creates some funky proportions!
When you’re wearing an athletic outfit, but not going to the gym, choose leggings that are a little more “everyday” and a little less “gym.”
Gym sneakers can be cute with some outfits, but a slim, non-athletic sneaker might be a better choice for an everyday outfit.
With a hoodie and a puffer vest, wearing my hair down feels very bulky around my face.
A few easy ways to improve your puffer vest outfits:
Your vest should be longer than your top, so choose a sweatshirt or top that’s a bit shorter.
To avoid the bulk around my face, I pulled my hair back into a loose messy bun and tossed on a hat to make the casual outfit feel more finished!
I swapped the pink leggings for a black legging. The color doesn’t really matter, but the black leggings are thicker and sturdier, so they feel a little more appropriate for being out and about.
A slim non-athletic sneaker is a much better shoe choice for a casual non-gym outfit!

Other puffer vest outfits to give you some inspiration
Why these outfits work:
I love seeing all these different women wearing vests in different ways. You’ll see a lot of the same principles I shared above, with the length of your vest vs. your top, and there’s not an ugly shoe to be seen. Look at the ankle gaps, the proportions, the color and print mixing — each of these outfits are very different, but I think you’ll find inspiration in every one of them!
Now go wear your puffer vests, and wear them well!
