As much as I love color, black and white is a huge part of my wardrobe. If you look in my closet, half of it is made up of black, white, or black and white. It’s a classic combination, universally complimentary to hair color and skin tone, and my favorite part is that it’s fun to mix and match together, as well as with interesting and colorful accessories.
Today I’ve teamed up with ShopStyle to Share some of my favorite black and white pieces, and how I style them! ShopStyle is an awesome site that allows you to do custom searches for clothing, and refine your search based on brands, price, style, etc. It makes finding the perfect item a total cinch!

I chose pieces with different textures (like metallic and faux leather), patterns (like polka dots and stripes), and then played with pattern mixing, pops of color, sparkly and strappy heels, and mixing metallics. Together, they make looks that are a modern and playful take on classic!

What is your most worn color combination?

I love black and white too but I'm always drawn to more grey, brown, and tan neutrals. A black and white stripe looks good on anyone though!

  6. Hey Merrick! I believe we sat next to one another at Garance Dore's speech at Alt… I'm so excited to be checking out your blog! I actually did one of the Shopstyle posts too (seen here: http://goodlifeforless.blogspot.com/2014/01/we-search-we-find-we-shopstyle.html) and I just read your post on tips for tripod photography and LOVED it. I am not daring enough to do it (yet!) but I too struggle with a husband that works during all the daylight hours and could really gain a lot by shooting my own images. Definitely something to think about! It was fun meeting you and I look forward to reading your blog!

  7. Thank you for your nice comment! And yes, I do it all in manual — I updated the post to talk a little bit about that. So glad you reminded me to add it!
