Jean trends have changed a lot since last year, so here is a breakdown of what jeans will be in style this year, with some shopping options for you!
A lot of styles have stayed pretty consistent over the past few years except for JEANS. Jean style have changed so much over the past few years, so I wanted to share a closer look at the jeans I see trending for 2024 and into 2025.
I did a reel the other day on Instagram about different styles of jeans (you can watch it HERE), and so many of you asked for details on how to wear them. So today let’s talk about these styles of jeans and various ways I’ve styled them, and which shoes I’ve worn with them.
On-Trend Jeans This Year
Full-Length Straight
This is a style that has been in the last few years, and it isn’t going anywhere. We’ll see lots more of it in the fall and winter, so if you have a pair in your closet, you’ll get plenty of use out of them next season.
I did a post all about what shoes to wear with full length jeans RIGHT HERE, but they’re a style that can be worn with sneakers, ballet flats, ankle boots, and sandals during the warmer months. I’d avoid heavy boots and chunky sneakers with them.
They’re a great jean to wear in the fall and winter and spring when you want to keep your ankles covered….pair with sweaters, long sleeve tees, and shorter jackets.

Full-Length Wide Length
This is one of the big jeans trends for 2024. We’re seeing so many full length jean options, I think the wide leg is the best of them and easier to wear than a straight leg full length jean.
If you’re trying a full length wide leg, they go with everything and you can wear them with casual tees and sweaters, sweatshirts and button ups, and shorter length jackets.
Shoes you can wear with them (as long as they don’t drag on the ground):
- Boots
- Flats
- High and low cut sneakers
- Sandals

Cropped Wide Length
This is my FAVORITE of all the styles. I’ve been wearing this style of jeans the last few years and I can’t get enough of them. They come in all lengths and widths of leg, and they’re a great option to dress up or down.
Shoes I wear with them:
- Flats
- Sandals
- High and low cut Sneakers
- Slim cut ankle boots
- Loafers
How long should they be?
- I’d recommend ankle bone length or a little bit above.

Kick-Crop Jeans
This is another jean style that was popular a few years ago and then came back with a vengeance this year! I think they’re a great option and they’ve certainly come a long way since I first started wearing them. The key is to choose a good length that won’t look like high water flares, but instead make them a purposeful length, AND choose a pair that doesn’t have a dramatic flare. You want it to be subtle. Choose a length slightly above your ankle bone.
Shoes you can wear with them:
- Ballet flats
- Sandals
- Low cut sneakers
- Slim cut ankle boots (as long as the jean length hits at or below the hem of the jeans…you don’t want an ankle gap here)

Boot Cut or Flared Jeans
Flared jeans were the “it” jean of my day, and I wore them all through high school and college until skinny jeans took over. Well…they’re back for 2024!
They’re a great option for dressing up or down, and the key is to wear them with shoes that don’t let them drag on the floor.
I personally prefer a flare or bootcut jean in a dressier outfit, paired with a nice blouse or sweater to avoid my high school “grunge” look with them dragging on the floor and wearing with dirty converse sneakers.
You’ll see in all the outfits that I’m wearing them with a pair of boots for an elevated look and no dragging.

Cropped Straight Leg
This is another one of my favorite styles, and it isn’t going anywhere for 2024 and into 2025. If you’re branching out from skinny jeans, this is a great option to try because they usually fit the same as a skinny jean in the waist and hips, and then they’re just a little looser on the leg.
They’re easy to wear with lots of different tops and jackets, just like you’ve worn your skinny jeans.
Shoes I wear with them:
- flats
- sandals
- ankle boots (as long as the ankle gap isn’t too big)
- high and low cut sneakers
- loafers
