Can we talk about boyfriend jeans for a minute today? I’ve searched high and low for a good pair of boyfriends jeans for the last couple of years and finally discovered this pair last year.

This is my second pair — I bought the first when I was barely pregnant with San, so I sized up a size, knowing I’d want to wear them during my pregnancy. But after he was born I bought a second pair in my normal size, and now I’ve been wearing them non-stop.

They’re made from a super soft and comfortable denim that’s sturdy, but they loosen up a little bit throughout the day, but just enough to give them a lived in feel — not enough to make them loose and baggy.  And the distressing is just enough, not too much (I shared a tutorial on how to patch the top hole right here if you want it)!

I find that with most boyfriend jeans I’ve tried, they’re too slouchy to wear with flowy or oversized tops without looking like your clothes are all too big, but these ones are slim cut so they have that boyfriend feel without making you look wider.

The length is pretty long, so I roll them three times to get a good ankle length (I’m 5’6″), but if you need them shorter I’d recommend just cutting an inch or two off the hem and then rolling them. If you cuff them up to your ankle, they’re perfect for wearing with ankle boots, heels, flats, sneakers — anything!

And the best part is that they’re under $100, and with free shipping from Nordstrom, it’s basically a no brainer. Go get yourself a pair already!

I guess I don’t understand boyfriend jeans. If they’re not wider/looser then aren’t they just regular jeans? what makes a boyfriend jean a boyfriend jean? Thanks — fashion beginner

Ha, yes, I suppose if they’re not wider/looser then they are just regular jeans. But these have the same look and feel as most boyfriend jeans (that lived in, loose, ripped look) — they just don’t make you look wider. So that’s why they’re the best 🙂
