I love trying new beauty products and finding brands that not only work well, but having amazing stories and people behind the products.
One of those products that I’m recently obsessed with is Tarte’s Shape Tape Concealer.
I’ve searched for years for a really good concealer that doesn’t crease, has great coverage, and stays on, and this is absolutely it.
I just recently discovered that it’s also a female made brand, and as a female entrepreneur myself I love supporting other women who are doing amazing things in their industries. Plus, today is International Women’s Day!
I started Merrick’s Art back in 2009 as a way to share my paintings, and over time as I’ve transitioned to sharing content about style, sewing, and motherhood I’ve been so grateful for women who have supported me. One of my biggest supporters as I turned my little art blog into a business was my mom. She encouraged me and was my biggest cheerleader, always sending ideas and feedback and encouragement that kept me going, even when I had no idea what I was doing.
The blogging world is also full of amazing women who are working hard and creating incredible content, and I’ve found some of my closest friends in this business. I absolutely love surrounding myself with and celebrating strong, capable, women.
QVC is doing an amazing campaign right now called #DreamDareDo that highlights and celebrates women-made brands, like Tarte, It Cosmetics, Aimee Kestenberg, Mally, and so many more.
Not only are they highlighting these incredible boss babes, but they’re also selling their products over on QVC right now for International Women’s Day. Like these eyeshadow sticks from Mally, the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer with a sponge, and this Perfect Formula nail gel coat that I’ve tried and love.
Take a minute today to support some amazing female made brands, and don’t forget to get yourself some Shape Tape Concealer!

Thanks for mentioning this one, i’LL CHECK IT OUT! 🙂

I’ve followed your blog and diy’s for a long time and this is the first time i feel dissappionted in anything you’ve posted. Tarte cosmetics has recently been very controvesial in terms of theIr inclusivity. Being that i am not white and that this product does not cater for everyone its very dissappionting to see This kind of post without any consideration for the diversity of your auidence.
While I understand where your concern is coming from, I don’t think it’s fair to be disappointed in Merrick. It’s a style/beauty/DIY blog. She’s Caucasian and she found a concealer that works for her. She shared it with her followers. It’s unfortunate that Tarte doesn’t have a full range of colours for darker skin tones, but it’s not fair to be disappointed in someone for liking one of their products THAT WORKS for their needs.
With your point of not considering the diversity of her audience, does she now have to put disclaimers at the beginning of her posts to cover all potential readers? Should “10 to-die-for statement earrings” come with a disclaimer at the beginning apologizing for readers who may not have ears or can’t wear earrings due to metal allergies? She shares her birth stores. I think it’s quite likely that a good proportion of her readers have either suffered miscarriages and/or can’t have their own children for various reasons. I doubt anyone would perceive a post like this as being insensitive, although it could very likely upset certain readers.
merrick shares her life with us, and some parts of her life won’t apply to all of her readers since we are all unique followers with our own stories.
