I love teacher outfits, but dressing between spring and winter can be tricky. Here are great transitional spring and winter outfits for teachers!
I hear from so many teachers that winter to spring are the hardest times to dress. Dressing for cold weather outside while staying cool enough in the classroom heating can be hard. Here are some spring and winter outfits for teachers to copy.
Spring and Winter Outfits for Teachers
Winter teacher outfit formula #1: joggers and a sweater
If your school dress code is casual, try a pair of joggers to school! These are a great comfy pant alternative to a dress pant or jeans, and a little easier to wear with shorter tops than leggings. I paired with a basic sweater and ankle boots, but you could also layer with a jacket or a blazer.
Of course I added socks to fill in the gap between my boots and the pants cause you don’t want cold ankles in the classroom!

Winter teacher outfit formula #2: Tunic sweater and leggings
This is a super basic outfit that is perfect for teaching in the winter. You can add a coat as needed, or mix it up with different shoes or styles of leggings (like leather or moto)!
ZELLA LEGGINGS (wearing size XS) | AMAZON TUNIC SWEATER (wearing size small, size up!) | SIMILAR BLACK CHELSEA BOOTS | KENDRA SCOTT KNOT EARRINGS
Winter teacher outfit formula #3: Sweater and cropped wide leg pants
This is one of my favorite go-to outfits — cropped wide leg pants and a basic sweater. You could do so many variations of this with different jackets, different styles or prints of sweaters, and any kind of footwear!

Winter teacher outfit formula #4: Dress pants and coatigan
If you have skinny dress pants, a basic tee or sweater with a coatigan or long cardigan over the top is perfect for a business casual outfit. And if you need your ankles covered, swap the loafers for a boot.
AMAZON COATIGAN (wearing size small) | AERIE STRIPED TEE | WHITE HOUSE BLACK MARKET NAVY BLUE DRESS PANTS (another option HERE) | MADEWELL LOAFERS | KENDRA SCOTT KNOT EARRINGS
Winter teacher outfit formula #5: Blazer and flared leggings
A pair of flared leggings (or yoga pants) is a good pants alternative if you want something a little dressier than leggings. You could wear this with an oversized sweater, but I love it with a basic tee and a blazer!
This look could also be dressed down with a casual jacket and sneakers, if your school is more casual.
AMERICAN GIANT PANTS | MADEWELL BLAZER (wearing size XXS) | CUTS ALMOST FRIDAY NON-CROPPED TEE (wearing size small) | CHELSEA BOOTS | SIMILAR CHAIN NECKLACE | KENDRA SCOTT KNOT EARRINGS
Winter teacher outfit formula #6: Sweater dress and blazer
I wanted to throw one dress option into the mix, but still keep it winter-appropriate. A sweater dress is a great comfy dress option, and I paired with a blazer and boots.
If you needed more warmth, choose a pair of tall boots and a warmer jacket, or choose a longer sweater dress!

Winter teacher outfit formula #7: Sweater and long skirt
This is one of my go-to outfits during the cooler months when I need something nice but don’t want to wear a dress. Pair a basic sweater with a long skirt, and add a pair of tall boots underneath for extra warmth!
SOMERSET SKIRT IN DIFFERENT COLOR | QUINCE SWEATER (wearing size small) | NATURALIZER BOOTS | KENDRA SCOTT KNOT EARRINGS
Winter teacher outfit formula #8: Sweatshirt and Wide Leg Dress Pants
A sweatshirt can be a great option for a basic top, and if you have a school sweatshirt, you could replace that here. I paired with wide leg dress pants and some nice boots, but you could swap the boots for a flat boot, a pair of flats or loafers, or a pair of sneakers.
EVERLANE PANTS (wearing size 2) | EVERLANE SWEATSHIRT (wearing size small) | SIMILAR BROWN BOOTS | KENDRA SCOTT KNOT EARRINGS
Winter teacher outfit formula #9: Nice jeans and puffer vest
I know lots of teachers can wear jeans, so I wanted to show to jeans outfits, although these are very nice, dressy jeans, so swap with what works for your dress code.
I paired them with a basic long sleeve tee and a vest, which is a great option to give you some warmth on winter days without overheating if your classroom is warm.
SPANX JEANS (wearing size XS, use code MERRICKXSPANX) | AERIE TEE | SIMILAR TAN VEST | MADEWELL LOAFERS | KENDRA SCOTT KNOT EARRINGS
Winter teacher outfit formula #10: Sweatshirt, quilted jacket, nice jeans
Here’s another option with the same nice jeans, this time with a graphic sweatshirt and a quilted coat. Quilted coats are really popular right now, and they’re a great layer that you can wear inside like a blazer without looking like you’re wearing your winter coat inside. They’re a perfect option for cold classrooms!
