I can hardly believe it, but my baby is two years old today! I know everyone says this, but these two years have absolutely flown by – especially the last year.
He’s the silliest kid and he brings so much joy to our family. We’re all obsessed with him.
I get asked a lot about my favorite toys for my kids, or gift ideas for little boys, so I thought since it’s Sanny’s birthday, I’d share five gifts that would be great for a two year old. All of them are great for both boys and girls!
Puzzles are Sanny’s recent favorite thing, and the wooden ones are particular good for this age. We love THIS ONE with the wood handles because they learn shapes, colors, and matching and it’s easy for little chubby hands to hold. These 12-piece Melissa and Doug ones are a little trickier, but they’re a great transitional puzzle and all my boys have (and still do) love them. We have the construction trucks, the vehicles, and I just bought the pets one.
DUPLO bricks are the toddler version of LEGO bricks, and they’re perfect for chubby hands that are working on fine motor skills. We have several sets with trains, airplanes, people, animals, and regular bricks, and it’s a good mix that allows Sanny to get creative in his play.
If you’re looking for a good starter set, this is a great set that’s only $25.
I bought THIS SCOOTER for Fos when he was two and it’s a great beginner scooter because it doesn’t go very fast and allows them to get the hang of the one foot on/one foot off scooter stance before using a fast scooter. Fos used it until he was probably four before he transitioned to THIS SCOOTER (which is my favorite scooter ever).
Two is the age where kids can start sitting through an entire board book, so fill your shelves with fun books that you can read together. We love THESE PRIDDY BOOKS that have lots of things Sanny can point to and memorize, but you can’t go wrong with Sandra Boynton or Eric Carle books if you’re just looking for something sweet and simple.
I’ve linked a bunch of our favorites in the widget below!
And now, because I can’t help myself, here’s a huge photo dump of pictures from Sanny’s first two years.
