One question I get asked over and over is “can I wear black and navy together?” The answer is YES! Here are ways to wear black and navy together.
What do you think of when you hear black and navy? Do you think about a fashion rule that you can’t wear these two colors together? That’s a super common “rule” I hear but I’m hear to tell you that you CAN wear black and navy together – and I’ll show you how!
How to Wear Black and Navy Together
Wearing black and navy together #1: Striped top, dark blue jeans
If you’re worried about black and navy together, this is a really easy way to ease yourself into this combination. Wear a pair of dark, dark blue jeans, and pair it with a black and white (or black and cream) striped top.
I promise this works together and no one will think it’s odd that you paired these two colors together.
Wearing black and navy together #2: Navy top, black jeans
This is a slightly more bold option, but still pretty safe. Black jeans and a navy top. I think the stripes (or another print on the top) make it feel more purposeful, and makes it a little easier to wear.
I chose tan shoes that make sense with both the black and the navy.
Wearing black and navy together #3: Solid black top, solid navy skirt
I actually love this outfit so much, but I’m sure this one will feel a little scary to many of you. Don’t be scared! These two colors work so beautifully together, and when you have an outfit that feels purposeful and chic, the color combination doesn’t even matter. Try it!
Wearing black and navy together #4: Navy blazer, black sweater
This is the most bold of all the combinations — pairing black and navy together on the top. But I think it looks fantastic and super chic! I paired a simple black sweater with a navy blazer, and then neutralized it with blue jeans (which go with everything). I chose black boots because I think they make sense with the pieces on top, and ground the outfit a bit. Tan shoes would make the outfit feel too top heavy, in my opinion.
I hope this is helpful! Now go wear black and navy together — I promise, it’s easier than you might think!
