Last year I discovered the best hack for menu planning. It has made my life so much easier and it could totally change your life too! Check out this hack.

I love making dinner for my family every night (or almost every night…we eat out on Saturdays, usually).

But the thing I hate? Menu planning.

Every Sunday afternoon I order groceries from Walmart to be delivered on Monday. I always make a grocery list after making a menu so I make sure I have all the ingredients for the week.

I don’t mind making the grocery list, or ordering the groceries (I enlist the boys help to order — I wrote about that here) but after 15 years, it’s such a chore coming up with a menu week after week.

I like trying new recipes to keep things interesting when I cook, but also they have to be kid and family friendly, and not too time intensive because I’m a working mom…

Here’s the solution for menu planning.

During quarantine last year, Philip created a Pinterest account cause he was bored one day, and I told him to pin some recipes that sounded good.

After pinning a bunch of dinner recipes over a few days, he offered to make the dinner menu for the week.

And then the week after, he offered again. And now he’s done it every week for the last year and a half.

It turns out, having your husband make the dinner menu every week has been LIFE CHANGING.

Here’s why this menu planning hack is life changing

When your husband makes the dinner menu, it takes all the pressure off of trying new recipes, or even choosing recipes at all. Cause if he hates the meal, it’s his fault, ha!

But also he chooses new and interesting recipes, and chooses things he knows he and the kids will all enjoy.

Now every week on Sunday afternoons, he goes through his Pinterest dinner board and then texts me a dinner menu so I have it ready to order groceries for the week.

So if you’re feeling burned out with making dinner, try asking your husband to make the menu for a few weeks and see if helps!

PErfect! When our kids we super little, my hubby and I decided I would feed us during the week, and he would feed us on the weekends. The weekends start Friday night!!! It’s an arrangement that has worked for us.
