How to Style a Sweat Set (One Piece, Two Body Types)

Matching sets have been super on trend the past few seasons. Today I’m teaming up with Kristy to show you how to style a sweat set on two different body types.

Have you jumped on the matching set trend? Personally, I love it because I can wear the pieces together or separately. Today I’m teaming up with Kristy to show you how to style a sweat set together and separately on two different body types.

Walmart’s line, Scoop, just released a ton of really cute pieces for fall, including this adorable matching set (TOP HERE and BOTTOMS HERE)

I sent a link to Kristy and told her I was ordering her a set, and she was very skeptical. But when it arrived, and I forced her to try it on, she was converted.

The fabric is buttery soft and thick (it’s called scuba knit, so it has that almost slippery quality like a scuba suit, but it’s super plush and soft at the same time) and it’s a fun sporty piece that’s much better than a sweatsuit. It’s also super affordable! Scoop has tons of other cute pieces right now too — check them out HERE.

Kristy and I are going to show you three ways to wear this matching set as a set and as separates.

How to Style a Sweat Set

Keep the set together

Matching sets are casual by nature. This one is basically an elevated sweat suit, and that’s just super casual. So choose casual shoes that match the level of the rest of the outfit. We both chose sneakers, but casual sandals work great too if it’s too warm for sneakers.

Pair the set top with basics

When you’re wearing a matching set as basics, you can have lots of fun with it, or keep it super simple. This top is great to wear with jeans and loafers, or jeans and sneakers, or leggings, joggers, cut off shorts, or even a denim skirt! We kept it basic with jeans, but the possibilities are endless.

Pair the bottoms with a graphic tee and jacket

Wide leg pants like this are super comfy and great for those lounging days. We wore them as separates and paired the pants with a basic tee and a jacket. For the tee, try a solid color, graphic tee, or a print (like stripes or dots)! The jacket helps add some structure and polish to the outfit so you don’t look like you’re wearing pajamas.
