A few months ago I got called to work with the 12-18 year old girls in my church. The other leaders and I wanted to give them a little Christmas gift from all of us, but since there are quite a few of them, we wanted to keep the gifts simple and inexpensive.
We decided on these beautiful handmade marbled ornaments. It’s a simple project (although it does take some time), but it has a wow factor, especially when it’s personalized and then paired with a pretty ribbon and tag.
Also, the gorgeous dress I’m wearing is from Piper Street, and they’re generously giving away $50 to their shop — enter at the bottom of this post!
TUTORIAL

Materials:
  • glass ball ornaments (I found mine at Michaels)
  • acrylic paint (not metallic — it will not permanently stick to the glass)
  • gold leafing pen, ribbon, and gift tag (optional)
Step 1. Take the metal top off your ornament and then squeeze some paint inside the glass ball.
Step 2. Gently tap it into your palm, rotating as you tap to evenly coat the entire inside of the ornament. Do not leave any spots uncovered.
Step 3. Turn the balls upside down for 10 minutes, letting all the excess paint drip out.
Step 4. Return the balls to the original container, laying sideways, as shown below. Rotate a quarter of a turn every 10 minutes until the paint inside is dry.
And you’re done!
Put the metal cap back on (carefully so it doesn’t scratch the paint), then personalize with a paint pen, ribbon and tag!

Hey Merrick, I'm a big fan of your dress as well 🙂 On a different note, since you changed your webpage, there have been some less than desirable adds featured on your blog. I really enjoy coming to your site, but I really don't appreciate those inappropriate Victoria Secret adds. Any way you can change that? I love your blog but would rather not have to see some suggestive material to get to it!

    • Thanks so much for your comment, Rachel. As far as I know, I don't have any control over which ads are run, but I will look into it and see if I can get those Victoria Secret ones blocked. I'm not a fan of them either. Thanks for saying something!
