10 Trends I’m Wearing this Fall

1. Blazers

  • Yep, blazers are still going strong! If you haven’t tried them yet, this is the season! I’ve got a bunch in THIS POST at all price points if you want to try them out. I’ll be wearing them with dresses, jeans, pants, and skirts. I’ve got a post HERE on how to dress a blazer down, and a post coming soon with how to wear them with dresses.

2. Chelsea Boots

  • Lots of you were hesitant about the Chelsea boot trend, when I bought mine and raved about them back in January 2021. Here we are almost two years later and they’re still super popular! I’d recommend choosing ones that aren’t too clunky so they feel more timeless. THESE ONES are my absolute favorite.

3. Leather – pants/leggings/jackets

  • Leather is a big trend this fall, and although leather has been around for ages, it’s not always super trendy. I just bought THIS PAIR of leather pants and I’m so excited to try them. I’ll do a post soon about how to wear them, I promise.

4. Sequins

  • When it comes to sequins, you don’t have to tell me twice. And nope, they’re not just for holidays or New Year’s Eve. I’ll be watching for some good sequin pieces to add to my outfits and add a little sparkle in my everyday looks.

5. Crisp button up shirts

  • A CRISP BUTTON UP SHIRT IS CLASSIC, but right now they’re trending for fall. You can’t go wrong with a classic button up shirt in a crisp white color, paired with blue, black, or gray jeans and a pair of cute flats.

6. Sports Luxe

  • As we’ve headed out of the major athleisure trend that 2020 brought on, it has elevated to sports luxe. Lots of tennis skirts, cute sweatshirts, baseball caps with button downs, sneakers with dresses, and other little sporty elements added to a sophisticated outfit. This is my dream style.

7. Camel/caramel/tan

  • We’ll be seeing lots of camel/caramel/tan this fall, and for good reason — it’s a stunning color on every person and looks so simple and chic. If you haven’t jumped on this color bandwagon, it’s time.

8. Long hemlines in skirts and dresses

  • Mini skirts are definitely in, but I stick to longer hemlines, and the long midi or shorter maxi skirts are huge this fall. I love a good ankle length a-line skirt with a sweater and sneakers, or a sweater and boots. You’ll be seeing this on me a lot this fall!

9. Barbie pink

  • Barbie pink is having a moment this fall, and although hot pink doesn’t feel like the most “fall” color, I’m going with it. I’m not much of a pink girl, personally, but I can’t resist a good hot pink moment. I’m sure I’ll be picking up a dress or skirt in this bold, bright color and pairing it with navy or black or dark green for a more fall combination.

10. Woven handbags

  • I tend to stick to more classic handbags, but the KNOTTED and WOVEN handbags are calling to me this year. I’m loving the texture they add to an outfit, especially in the fall when it’s all about texture play!

Trends That Are Huge For Fall

1. The color RED

  • This color was big last fall, and is always big for holiday, but this year it’s ESPECIALLY big! Try adding a RED HAT, a pair of RED SNEAKERS, or some RED BALLET FLATS. The red ballet flats are my favorite shoe right now and add such a fun pop to any outfit. This trend is a major LOVE for me.

2. Embellishments

  • Remember when studded shoes (especially those Valentino heels and flats) were so popular? Well studs and embellishments like that are BACK this year. I’m seeing lots of bags, shoes, and even jeans that are embellished. I’m iffy on this one…I think some things are cute, but I’m mostly unsure about the embellished jeans. We’ll see what the season brings.

3. Charms

  • This is an interesting one that I didn’t see coming…charm necklaces and bracelets are huge right now! At first I thought they felt a little kitschy, but the more I see them, the more I like them. I think they’re a fun way to add some personality with jewelry.

4. Belts

  • I’ve been hesitant on belts for my whole life, mostly because pants were so low rise, so the belts hit lower on my hips and felt very uncomfortable. But now that jeans are higher rise, I’m finding belts to be very comfortable and I’m loving adding them to my outfits to add a bit of structure and sophistication.

5. Vests

  • Vests are a huge trend for summer and into fall. Menswear has been really trendy for the last few seasons, and this is part of that. I think sometimes it works, but mostly I’m not a huge fan. Mostly I hate the pleated trousers and vest combo, which just feels really unnecessarily stuffy, and not like an outfit I’d actually wear.

6. Low Rise

  • This is the one trend in this list that I truly hate. We’re seeing more and more low rise styles out there, and I think they’re such a bad choice. You won’t be seeing me wear them. I’m fine with high and mid rise, but I won’t go back to low.

7. Drop Waist Dresses

  • This is one style I was hesitant about, but actually am loving. I think it’s a really pretty, feminine style that’s worth trying! I just bought THIS ONE, and I’m also loving THIS AFFORDABLE ONE FROM TARGET.

8. Denim Skirts

  • This was a big trend last year, and I hated it, but I think it’s streamlined a bit and we’re seeing more options. Last year, it was long, heavy skirts, and this year I’m seeing many more options. Pencil style, flared, midi length with a slit, and other styles that feel much more wearable.

9. Western

  • This is the year of western — it’s everywhere! I’m seeing lots of knee high western boots paired with denim, and while I think sometimes it can feel a little costume-y, I think in general I like it! I bought a pair of western boots (wearing them above), and I think they’re a fun addition to a cotton dress or a denim dress.

10. Cardigans

  • I was hesitant about this trend coming back, but I actually really like it too. I prefer a cardigan buttoned up and worn as a stand along sweater, rather than open and worn over a tee or cami. There are lots of styles available out there — classic button up, v-neck, short sleeve, half sleeve, and more. I’m open to all of them!

11. Kitten Heels

  • Honestly, I hate kitten heels. I think block heels were the best thing that happened to style, because they allowed for a shorter heel without the stubby look of a kitten heel. I know some will disagree with me on this, but I think they’re so ugly, make your feet look extra long, and are also not easy to walk in. This is a big no for me.

12. Cuffed Jeans

  • Have you seen the big cuffs on jeans? This was a style that was really trendy about 15 years ago with skinny jeans, and now it’s back with wide and straight leg jeans. Personally I’m not a huge fan, but I’ve seen some that are ok. I think this one will be a flash in the pan.
