Let’s talk about skincare.

Last month I turned thirty, and although everyone says your thirties are your best yet (which I’m sincerely looking forward to), it’s also the time when I need to start taking great care of my skin as I begin to age. Time for some anti-aging products.

I have acne prone skin and have always had trouble with my skin tone and the elasticity of my skin (meaning I scar easily), and I’ve spent the last decade and a half working to control my acne.  In the last six months or so I’ve finally gotten that under control, I’m working double time to repair and correct the effects of acne for 15 years, and also combat against the aging that I’ll face with age.

I truly believe that with the right tools I can combat both, and so I’ve teamed up with Clarins today to try and share about their new Double Serum Complete Age Control Concentrate. It is specifically designed to repair loss of firmness and elasticity, and improve dullness and uneven texture — exactly what I need!

I’ve only been using the product for the past two weeks and already have seen a noticeable difference. My skin always panics a little when new products are introduced, so I broke out after the first few days of using it, but now that my skin has acclimated to the product it’s loving it.

Last night I exfoliated with my spinner brush while washing my face, and then applied the Double Serum, and instantly my skin was buttery soft. My skintone is already improving, and I can tell the texture has tightened up a bit, which is amazing for the small scars I have. Time to get rid of those darn things!

I read some online reviews on Sephora.com about the Serum, and some people mentioned that it was sticky, but I didn’t find that to be the case at all. It’s intensely moisturizing, but goes on really smoothly. I use it right after I wash my face, and then follow with my regular moisturizer, and then primer and makeup. And then I use it again in the evening after I wash my face.

In two weeks I’ve seen changes, so I’m excited to see what two months and six months will do for my skin. You can check out more about the product right here at Sephora.com!

Ahh, I’m right there with you! I also leave my 20s this summer. I saw this article about Allure’s campaign to stop using the term anti-aging. What do you think? https://www.simplemost.com/allure-magazine-bans-the-term-anti-aging/

I think if I look like Helen Mirren when I’m 72 I’ll be fine banning the term too 😉

But honestly I understand Allure’s point. But I’m not going to try to look 25 my whole life…I just want to take care of my skin so it can look as beautiful as possible throughout my life. Using the term doesn’t correlate with in how I feel about getting older. Hope that makes sense!

Thanks so much for your honesty with the struggles of acne prone skin. If you don’t mind sharing, what have you found to be working on a day to day basis?

My esthetician recommended the Salicylic Cleanser from Benev and I’ve really liked that. I’ll be sharing my full skincare routine on the blog soon!

What shirt and jeans are you wearing?
