We love reading together as a family. Here are the book series that my three boys (ages 11,9 and 5) have been loving lately.
Book Series for Boys
You know how much we love reading in our family. My boys are all different ages, and my favorite way to spend quality time with them is reading aloud before bed. I have a post all about our favorite read aloud books HERE!
But my boys also love to read on their own and are all huge book lovers as well. Here are the series that each of my boys love. They are ages 11, 9, and 5.
Book Series for 11-year-old Boys
My 11 year old is a voracious reader. I can hardly keep him in books! He has a Kindle that we bought him for Christmas (replacing his old one), so he reads in bed at night and after school as much as he can. He goes through about two books per week. These are six series that are age appropriate for him and that he’s been loving.
- Five Kingdoms
- The Ascendance Trilogy
- Keepers of the Lost Cities
- Guardians of Ga’Hoole
- Adventurers Wanted
- Dragonwatch
- The 39 Clues
Book Series for 9-year-old Boys
My 9 year old has a serious love of books too! He’s been reading a lot of graphic novels for the last year, with a few longer novels mixed in there. But this year, since he got his new Kids Kindle, he’s been reading Harry Potter and has been racing through them. He’s read books 1-3 since Christmas, and finally I let him start Harry Potter book #4. But of course you know about Harry Potter so here are a few other series that are less well know but just as good!
Book Series for 5-year-old Boys
My youngest is now reading pretty well, but a lot of the book series’ he loves he listens to on audiobook. He has THIS CD PLAYER in his bedroom and we check out audiobooks from the library all the time and he listens during quiet time, before bed, and on the weekend afternoons. It’s a great way for him to increase his comprehension, vocabulary, and flow of reading. These are some of his favorite series that he listens to and reads.
- Wallace and Grace (reading on his own)
- King and Kayla (reading on his own)
- A to Z Mysteries (audiobook)
- Frog and Toad (reading on his own)
- Magic Tree House (audiobook)
- Flat Stanley (audiobook)
- Henry Higgins (audiobook)
- Princess in Black (reading on his own)
- Boxcar Children (audiobook)
- Nate the Great (reading on his own)
