A black midi dress should be a staple in anyone’s closet. They’re classy, versatile, and can be dressed up or down. Here are four ways to wear this one from my dress collection!
BLACK MIDI DRESS OUTFITS
Do you own a black midi dress? They’re great for the colder seasons. Today I want to show you four black midi dress outfits with the brand new Merrick White Collection Dress.
This dress is buttery soft, stretchy french terry fabric. It’s heavyweight and so luxurious — it feels like you’re wearing a thick, cozy sweatshirt, but it looks super nice!

Today I want to show you how to wear the black midi dress, four different ways.
Little black midi dress, outfit #1: Add a long, warm, dressy coat
If you don’t own a nice dress coat, you should definitely get one! You can wear them with jeans, skirts, dresses, and dress pants.
I chose this one because the length hits right at the ruffle and I like how you can see the ruffle out the bottom. You could also choose a longer coat that hits closer to the end of the dress, but I wouldn’t recommend a coat longer than the dress.
Little black midi dress, outfit #2: Layer a sweater over it
I love making pieces more versatile with layering tricks! This one is easy — just pull a pullover sweater over the top, add a belt, and then tuck the sweater into the belt.
I added dressy ankle boots, but you could do flats or even sneakers!
Little black midi dress, outfit #3: Try a cropped coat
With a dress like this that flares out a bit, a cropped jacket is a really good option so you can see that A-line shape!
This is a great teacher or work outfit with simple flats, but you could also do boots or heels.
Little black midi dress, outfit #4: Keep it simple
This dress has such pretty details with a slight puff sleeve, a gorgeous ruffle hem, and a beautiful v-neck, and a waist tie…there’s no need to add more if you don’t want to!
A few bracelets, some simple earrings, and classic black heels are all you need for a classic look.
