Spring is right around the corner (or already upon us if you live in California, like me), so it’s time to start whipping up those spring dresses! Dresses are my most sewn item, probably because I live in them during the spring and summer months. They’re pretty and feminine, but also super comfortable. So pull out those sewing machines and make yourself a few dresses before the flowers start blooming. Which one will you make??

(and if you do make something from one of my tutorials and post it on social media, please tag me so I can see your creations!)

Happy Friday!

You look adorable but I love the contrast back dress the most! It’s a gorgeous classic and some designer made it last year. I wish I could sew!

  2. Elsa K says:

I already made the pleated fit and flare last autumn and I’m thinking about making a striped swing dress so I might use your tutorial. Anyway, you are really creative and all of these are gorgeous.

  3. Jennifer says:

I want my sewing machine out of storage so badly! I have been dying to try your swing dress tutorial since you posted it. Hopefully by summer.

  4. Paige Cassandra Flamm says:

I am loving that contrast back dress! It is so super stunning!

  5. So there is no way I could ever make these dresses!! The hardest thing I’ve ever done sewing wise was sew my ribbons on my pointe shoes 🙂 BUT if you ever decide to start selling your dresses, please let me be the first to know! I would buy the swing dress and the pleated/flare dress in a second! All of these are beautiful.

  6. Anna says:

    great dresses! very inspirational

  7. alicia says:

your dresses are amazing! I’m making some dresses this weekend and am loving your tutorials! question though, are you strictly using a sewing machine? or do you also use a serger?

    • Merrick says:

I use both — but only the serger for finishing my edges. Everything else I do with the sewing machine (unless I specifically mention it in my tutorial, which is really rare). Good luck this weekend!

  8. That pencil dres with the contrast back… that’s gorgeous!!! I am learning to sew (along with my daughter) and this will be first on my list!

  9. I love all of these! I wish I could make them all! If I wasn’t a beginner seamstress I would make the pleated fit and flare, but I am afraid that I am not experienced enough. 🙂

  10. Hilary Hansen says:

I’ve been dying to make your swing and fit and flare dresses. Where can I find the fabric you used for the fit and flare dress?

  11. Heidi D. says:

Wow, you are so talented! I’ve been wanting to take up sewing and this has pushed me over the edge to try it!

  12. Amaryah says:

I made your contrast back dress! See here: The fit isn’t perfect because the pattern I used wasn’t great (boo Burda) but I love the floral fabric I used. Love your blog!
