What to Wear in Santa Fe: Outfit Ideas Inspired by My Trip

Santa Fe is one of those places where the red rock scenery is stunning and the style is southwestern chic. I’m sharing the outfits I wore on my trip to help you plan what to pack and feel cute while exploring.

If you’re heading to Santa Fe and wondering what to wear, I’ve got you covered. Between the bold colors, artsy vibe, and desert climate, it’s the perfect place to have fun with your outfits and pull in a southwester vibe — but still be comfortable for walking, dining, and sightseeing.

I pulled together all of the looks I wore on my trip to give you some outfit inspiration, plus a few packing tips I wish I knew before I went!

What to Wear in Santa Fe

Travel day outfit

I had a very long travel day from St. Louis to Santa Fe, especially because we had a delay on my first flight so I missed my connecting flight and had to get rescheduled. I was grateful for my comfortable Spanx set to keep me comfortable, and this scarf was a game changer for keeping cozy and chic during a long day of travel. It worked as a blanket, pillow, scarf, and shawl all weekend.

Sunday night outfit

The first night I arrived, we had a big southwestern dinner with everyone who attended this retreat. I wanted to have a southwestern vibe with pieces that I could wear beyond Santa Fe. I wore this gorgeous cream dress with a suede blazer and my black knee high boots, and then added a western style belt and some fun turquoise earrings. I love how this outfit came together!

Monday outfit for meetings and activities

This skirt was love at first sight, and I love how this outfit came together with some pieces I already had in my closet. I wore a basic black ribbed tee, my favorite denim jacket, some older ankle boots from Madewell, and added a silk scarf to finish off the look.

Dinner and after party in Santa Fe

I found this really fun suede fringe skirt and it was the perfect skirt to wear to the final night of the retreat in Santa Fe. I paired with an older anthropologie crocheted top, my denim jacket, and my black boots. I finished the look off with a black bag and some turquoise earrings.

During the retreat, we did a fun painting class and I dusted off my old painting skills to paint a really beautiful Santa Fe landscape. I also picked up a gorgeous ring from a local artisan, Art is Mexico. It was so fun to be able to bring a few pieces of Santa Fe home with me!

I’ll definitely be coming back with my family some day to really experience all that Santa Fe has to offer.

hmmmmm… yes, your outfits are very nice and chic and they look fabulous. women can wear most anything and look great. guys however have to be careful to not look hokey and trendy. fringed jackets , cowboy boots and hat simPLY look absurd. people will actually laugh at them.
