I’m sort of a creature of habit. I like to do the same things over and over because they’re planned and it saves me some thinking, and if I love it, then why make a change?
My lunches are like this. I find something I really like and eat it for lunch every single day for months. Every few months I’ll think of something new and eat that every day for the next few months. I’d been on a spinach salad with poppyseed dressing kick for a while, and although I loved it, it takes quite a long time to prepare in the evenings. So I set out to find something new to make for lunch. I finally decided upon a wrap. 1 tortilla, a few slices of meat, a few pieces of cheese, and some freshly cut lettuce. It sounded so fresh and delicious, I could hardly wait to open it up and eat it for today’s lunch! In fact, I was so excited that I pulled it out around 11:45, when I normally don’t eat until 1:00pm.
You can imagine my disappointment when the entire tortilla was soggy. I nearly gagged pulling it out of my bag and touching the water-logged wrap. I managed to salvage part of it, and eat the meat and cheese inside, but it certainly wasn’t filling or fresh or delicious, or any of the wonderful things I’d imagined. And now I have a lot of hours before I’m home and there is other food to eat.
I guess I’ll have to start thinking of something else to bring for lunch. What are you eating? I need some ideas…
