Easy DIY Valentines Shirts for Boys (and Girls!)

These cute Valentines shirts for boys are easy to DIY

With Valentine’s Day only a few days away, I was looking for some fun Valentines shirts for boys. Last year I made myself this cute OMBRE HEART SWEATSHIRT, and thought it would be fun to DIY something for my three boys this year.

We looked online and brainstormed, and came up with three fun DIY Valentines shirt ideas:

• Heart Stegosaurus 
• Heart Pepperoni Pizza
• Heart Shark Bite

They’re all super easy to make yourself, and today we’ll show you how!

Here’s what you need for this project:

• plain t-shirt or sweatshirt (I used THESE $5 t-shirts)
• felt (the sheets from the craft store are fine) – I used white, gray, red, gold, yellow, green, and dark green
• scissors
• matching thread – I used red, white, yellow, and green
• hot glue (optional)

I created printables for each of these designs so you can print them out, cut out the shapes, and use them as patterns for your projects.

Step by step instructions for these DIY Valentines Shirts

Step 1. Print out the patterns. Cut the patterns out around each shape.

Step 2. Lay your paper pattern onto the felt and either trace around each shape with marker and then cut, OR pin the pattern to the felt and cut around each pattern.

Step 3. Arrange your felt pieces onto the shirt as desired.

Step 4. Using hot glue, lightly attach your felt to the shirt (optional)

Step 5. Now that the felt pieces are temporarily in place, use your sewing machine and sew around each shape to attach them to the front of the shirt or sweatshirt.

optional: if you don’t have a sewing machine, you can use a needle and thread and attach the shapes to the shirt!

Are these DIY shirts machine washable?

Heck yes, they are! As long as you sewed them on with a sewing machine, they are completely machine washable. Just make sure you pre-shrink your tee/sweatshirt before attaching the felt, and turn inside out to wash.

That’s it! So simple, and now you have some cute Valentines shirts for your boys or your girls!
