About a month ago, I got laid off from my job. The night it happened, I thought it was the end of the world. Then I woke up the next morning and realized I never had to go to that job again, and since I was planning on quitting when the baby came, it turned out to be the most awesome thing in the world.
So now I am a full time painter. Which is also the most awesome thing in the world.
I’ve spent this time working on two painting series — one all about my pregnancy, and the other urban landscapes. I’ve been working on multiple paintings at once, so all my current work is about half finished. Except for this painting that I just busted out in an afternoon last week.
The color is a little off because of the weird lighting in my house, but you get the basic idea. I’m actually really happy with how this one turned out.
This is very fun! Is it from your trip to SF?
I haven't seen many non-people paintings by you! Just curious, have you ever done animals? or landscapes? Whatever you do seems fantastic!

Oh – Lombard Street. I always wanted to live on that street until we moved to SF last year – then I realized how completely awful it would be to have cars lined up day and night to drive down your street!

My brother and I had a poster in our room of a painting called "Caroling Lombard Street" It was christmasy but not overly so–so it was up year round and we loved it. Later when we went to SF we were so excited to go see Caroling Lombard Street. We thought that was the name of the street. We were so disappointed when our mom told us that "Caroling" was not part of the name.
