Three Ways to Wear A Simple Button Down Top

Three easy outfits from one shirt and jeans

I think one of the most valuable clothing tips a woman can learn is how to wear an item of clothing different ways.

I’ve heard from lots of you that you struggle to style things different ways and get stuck in a rut.

So today let me show you three ways to wear a button up blouse — and keep in mind that this works for any button up shirt, but I’m wearing this cute short sleeve blue one.

  1. For date night

  2. As a casual momiform

  3. For an effortless summer look

DATE NIGHT.

For date night, do a full tuck with a pair of higher waisted jeans (THESE ONES are my current favorites – so flattering and not too much distressing).
A fully tucked in shirt with higher waisted jeans accentuates your waist and makes your legs look longer and your waist look skinnier! You could also add a belt if you’d like.
To finish the look, add a stacked heel shoe (I like ankle boots on dates because they’re comfy for walking around but give me a little lift), a small dressy bag that can fit your wallet, a lipgloss, and your phone, and a jacket or cardigan sweater if it gets chilly.

MOMIFORM.

I took the same top and jeans and with a few little changes I made it great for an everyday momiform.

Instead of a full tuck, do a half tuck (meaning just the front is tucked into the waistband of your jeans). This elongates your legs because your entire leg line is showing, but it also offers more coverage if you’re not super keen on showing off your waistline.

To finish the look, go for a pair of comfortable, neutral sneakers, a large bag that you can toss everything into, and a low messy bun to keep your hair out of your face.

VACATION.

And finally, an easy summer look!

Just simply tie the bottom of your button down shirt in a knot at your waist. You can do it a little higher if you want to show some skin, but I do it lower to offer extra coverage (tip: wear a cami underneath if you don’t want to show skin when you lift your arms).

A pair of simple, neutral sandals (these ones are similar) and a fun, summery bag are the perfect accessories with this look. Then add a top knot and some sunglasses, and you’re ready for vacation! You could also add some cute tassel or other statement earrings to complete the look!

tHE shirt is so cute. How shear is it? Do you think you’d have to wear a tank top under it?

I love these kind of outfits! So easy, but still so cute. Im also wondering if the shirt is sheer and if you are wearing a cami underneath? Also, may i ask what size shirt you are wearing? Thanks!

A few of you have asked about some of the plants I have sitting around so let’s talk about them. I thought we’d split this post into two parts, today I’ll show entirely too many photos of how I use plants around our downstairs (I hardly have any upstairs right now) and then in the next post we’ll talk about specifics like how I make sure they stay alive and where I buy my plants, why you will love having plants in your home, and which plants are my favorite.
