Happy Monday! Last week I took a trip up to the LA fabric district with a few friends and came back with yet another stack of gorgeous fabrics. When I posted a picture of them on my instagram, I asked if there were any tutorial requests, which sparked an idea (also based off of my sister’s version, Tell Me What To Read). I get feedback from my readers all the time, and regular emails with tutorial requests, but for the most part my sewing tutorials are what I want to sew (because obviously I sew what I want to wear). But how about every quarter, you tell me what sewing tutorials you want to see on here. What do you want to learn how to make?

Here’s what I need from you:

Leave a comment with one sewing tutorial you want to see this Summer.

And that’s it! So easy. A few of my planned summer projects are shown above — it can be one of those, or anything you want. Next week I’ll announce the winning project, and the tutorial will go up at the beginning of August!
And, go!

I love ALL your ideas, and am hoping to see all of them 😉 but what I would really love is a structured peplum top, something made of a sturdier fabric. That would be amazing!
Love this idea, excited to see which tutorial it ends up being 🙂
    xx Johanna

I was just thinking the other day about the holidays, and a party that I have every year. I was thinking I would really love to wear one of those "party skirts," the satin full skirts (know the ones?). Anyhow, I would love to see a tutorial for a full midi skirt, so I could try to make one.

I love the fit and flare grey dress with the short sleeves! It would be so fun and very functional, especially in a fun pattern!

  4. Erin Caple says:

It took me a little while to become a fan of them, but I really do like them now. There aren't many great tutorials out there for a nice pair of Palazzo pants:)

  5. kayse says:

Have you done a maxi dress before? What about one that would work in summer and still transition into fall?

  6. Kamara says:

All of these look so nice to have!! Maybe a peplum top, just like the one pictured above! 🙂
Also, do you have any recommendations for online sites for fabric?!

  7. all of these are great ideas, but I love the denim dress! Anyway I'll be waiting you next tutorial!

  8. I would love to see a denim Dress.

  9. Nikki says:

I love the grey short sleeve dress, so cute!

  10. Kacie Ellis says:

I want you to make all of the items featured in this post and then give them to me 🙂 Sounds like a good plan, uh? I think my favorites are the stripes and floral tee and all the dresses!

  11. Cassie Johs says:

The striped and floral tee! I'm hoping that would translate into upgrading some of my older tops, make them a bit more trendy and better fitting. I love the idea of trading out the back of a shirt for a different fabric.

    Palazzo pants!

This Anthro dress looks fairly simple to make, but it scares me. I know you would knock this out of the park!

I love the grey knit dress and the stripe/floral tee. Though any tutorial you want to share will be amazing!

  18. sage m says:

I like the top left and the middle two dresses. I've been trying to find a way to pattern hack some of what I already own to create a similar dress to the grey one. It looks so easy to wear!

  19. Tessa says:

I'm with Sage. The top left and the two middle. Fun! Maybe the knit dress. It'll be good for Fall and I'm looking to learn tips on sewing with knit.

  20. Can you sew all the items above starting with the peplum on the left bottom of your grouping?! 😉

  21. JoEllen says:

I've been dying to make a fun and easy shift dress! I'm thinking a leopard one with different color or different pattern sleeves with an exposed zipper in the back. But I have yet to conquer zippers! Help…. 🙂

  22. Amanda P says:

A dressy top good for work or going out that also is easy to breastfeed/pump in. I'm going back to work soon and nursing tanks and cardis will only get me so far.

  23. That chambray dress would be great!

  24. mistymcooper says:

LOVE your blog… Especially the clothing tutorials! I'd live to see your version of a white or off white boho style lace summer dress. It's on my to do list and I love me some good inspiration or even better…a tut :))

  25. If I have to pick from the pictures above I am going with the beautiful striped shift dress. However I would love a shift dress with a ruffle for something more dressy.

  26. Divamazon says:

That denim dress and peplum top!!

    Please and thanks! 😉

  27. You always have great taste and ideas. Love everything but probably the denim dress most. Also cute track pants…?

  28. A jean shirt dress!! I've always wanted one, but they're always too short on me and I'm terrified of making one myself without a tutorial!! And I love all the ideas above, especially that peplum shirt and the lace dress!!

  29. (I'm also always scared of lining things — I don't know how to properly attach it, so that too!)

  30. Maria M says:

This is a great idea! I'd love to see a tutorial for the peplum top you showed above. I'm working on one right now and it's just not turning out right, so it would be awesome to see your take on it!

  36. Gillian says:

Oooooh! The madewell sweatshirt dress pretty please! I have pinned that same one!

  37. Demi says:

I second the comment for a playsuit–Except I'd love something a bit more structured in sturdier fabric. Or just a damned pair of cute, high-waisted shorts. I can't seem to find a tutorial for those things ANYWHERE.
