We all know that shopping for swimsuits is HARD! Today my team of 6 women is sharing their favorite swimsuits. We’re all different ages, stage, body types, and heights, so here are 20 swimsuit recommendations  for a variety of body types!

We all know that shopping for swimsuits can be a major challenge! But finding recommendations from other women who are similar in height or body type to you can make it easier! So today, my team of 6 women is sharing our favorite swimsuits this summer. We’re all at different ages, stages and all have different bodies, so here are our top swimsuits that we love and recommend.

Swimsuits for Different Body Types

Merrick’s Favorite Swimsuits

I’m 5’6″ and have a slightly long torso and long legs.  I typically order a small or a 2/4 in swimsuits, and usually a normal length torso swimsuit works for me – no long torso sizing needed. I’m a size 26 in jeans.

I carry my weight mostly in my lower half, and if I put on weight, it’s in my hips, booty, and upper legs. I find that higher cut swimsuits are more flattering for my body type, since a lower cut accentuates the area where I’m widest, but I also don’t want anything super cheeky, since I’m most often at the pool or the waterpark with my children.

Here are my top favorite swimsuits this season:

Aerie Crinkle One Piece Swimsuit: This swimsuit comes out in a few new colors and prints every year, and I’ve bought it 4 times, I think. It says “full coverage” but honestly it’s still a little higher cut. It’s my ideal cut cause it elongates my legs, doesn’t cut into my cheeks in a weird way, but isn’t crazy cheeky. They changed this suit this year and they no longer have ANY padding built in, but I actually prefer that because I just use my CAKES for nipple coverage (code MERRICK10 works for 10% off), and my NOSHO for camel toe coverage. No need to worry about pads falling out or getting folded inside your suit. I wore this swimsuit to the waterpark on our cruise and went down the tallest water slide in the world and everything stayed in place perfectly. If that’s not the true test, I don’t know what is! I wear a size SMALL.

J.Crew One Shoulder One Piece: J.Crew has been one of my go-to’s for swimsuits for my whole adult life, and I just got this one this year because…hello…LEMON PRINT! It’s such a gorgeous suit, and the thick strap one shoulder offers lots of support, plus it has a built in shelf bra and removable pads (I still use my CAKES – use code MERRICK10). I love the ruching on the middle for a really flattering look (especially great if you carry weight in your middle and want to camouflage a bit), and this one has FULL BOOTY COVERAGE. If you don’t like cheeky at all, this one is a great option. The material is double lined so it’s not sheer even in the white areas. I wear a size 4 in this one.

Andie Swim Henley One Piece. I bought this swimsuit last year after getting a ton of ads on Instagram for it, and I immediately fell in love with it. The fabric is fantastic, and it’s a great suit for the waterpark or the lake because it has more shoulder coverage and you won’t worry about things falling out if you’re going down a slide or doing water sports. I love that the snaps on the front allow you to close it for more coverage, or open for a little more skin showing. The back coverage is about the same as the aerie one piece above — not super cheeky, but a good flattering cut that doesn’t shorten my leg line. It has a built in shelf bra (it’s split in half because of the low snaps in the front, so there is a separate shelf on each side), plus removable pads (I still wear my CAKES underneath). I wear a size XS in this suit.

Summersalt Ruffle Sleeve One Piece: I’ve been a huge fan of Summersalt’s swimsuits for years – they’re some of my favorite and I own probably 5 of their suits. They’re all incredibly well made, double lined for smoothing and support and coverage, built in padding (hallelujah), and great coverage. This one is one of my all time favorites because the square neck and ruffle sleeves are flattering and flirty and a little bit sexy, while still being very covered. The booty coverage isn’t full coverage, but it’s close. It’s a really flattering cut that looks good on everyone. I love that you can see multiple body types in these swimsuits on their websites. If I had to chose a second favorite from this brand, I’d choose The Sidestroke or the Ruched Backflip. I wear a size 4 in their swimsuits.

Laura’s Favorite Swimsuits

I am 5’11 and all legs, so my torso isn’t too long. I typically order a size Medium, 8, or 28.

I don’t necessarily have to order tall sizes in swimsuits, but I like having the option. I also have scoliosis, so I’m very particular about what swimsuits will highlight my slightly uneven hips. For body proportions, I have broad shoulders, a pretty flat behind, and a pretty flat front after breastfeeding 3 kids ;). I like swimsuits that will cover my booty well and lift my front. I don’t like anything too high cut on the hips because of the mentioned scoliosis! I look for swimsuits that are comfortable for chasing my kids at the pool!

J. Crew One Shoulder One PieceI’ve ordered this swimsuit in two colors and styles (there’s an older one with a bow on the shoulder I LOVE) and just love it. The booty is full coverage, and I’ve found the one shoulder to be really flattering for my broad shoulders. It has removable pads, but they don’t move around at all and aren’t a hassle to deal with. I wear my true size 8 in this, but would size up if you’re larger chested.

Kona Sol Textured One Piece: This is a great look-alike to a more expensive and popular suit. This was my go-to swimsuit last summer when I was only 6 months postpartum and was larger chested while breastfeeding. It’s a pretty thick and forgiving fabric (absolutely no see-thru opportunities) but doesn’t quite hold you in for tummy control. I wore a size L when I was postpartum in this.

Aerie Cutout One Piece: I love this swimsuit and it’s been my tried and true for years. I’ve ordered it many times in the past 4-5 years in varying colors and sizes. Right now, a M Long fits me best. It has full coverage, and I prefer to wear it when my chest is a little smaller because it doesn’t have a ton of support in the chest area.

Shelby’s Favorite Swimsuits

Hi! I’m currently in college and for reference I am 5 ‘7″ and usually like a 6/8 or medium. I think that square neck is most flattering for me and I like something that is more flattering in my midsection. Most of the time that I’m wearing a swimsuit I’m doing something a little more active like paddle boarding, lake activities, or rotating between reading and playing volleyball on the beach so I like a swimsuit that’s cute, flattering, and somewhat athletic.

Amazon Black One Piece with Scallop Detail: This is my current go-to swimsuit. It’s great quality and the ribbing makes it extra flattering. It has great coverage, is supportive and the scallop detail is so cute! I think having a classic black suit is a swimsuit staple.

Amazon Color Block Two-Piece:  This is hands down my favorite two-piece. I really do feel like it still has good coverage and support and is one of my favorites this year! It comes in so many cute colors- the neon is fun and makes me look extra tan- and it’s my favorite for spending time at the beach or pool.

Kristy’s Favorite Swimsuits

I am 5’7″ and wear a size large in most things.  In pants I am a size 12 or 30-31 depending on the brand.  I am very busty and my main goal with a suit is just to keep those boobies in and not falling out! Ha! I am a very busy mom of four kids that are spread out in ages and we  love to travel and adventure.  I will be at the water park, the community pool, floating down a river on a tube, kayaking the lake, and laying out at a resort all in one week. So, my goal for a swimsuit is simple. I need it to cover my bum that keeps getting bigger and flatter as I age, and something to keep my boobs in when I get out of a water slide, fall off a tube, and bend over to grab my kayak.  I also want a swimsuit that I think looks cute at the resort pool with my husband in the morning and stays put in places it needs to when we go snorkeling in the afternoon.  Here are my top choices if your looking for fun suits that give great coverage.

Cupshe Ruched Tankini Top– I love a great tankini for water parks and lake days.  This one has been great for being able to throw on a pair of denim shorts and wear it out to lunch after because the top looks like a tank and not just a swimsuit.  I wear a large in the top and bottoms. I could wear an XL in the top but I like the tighter fit on my boobs.  It holds them in better!

Cupshe Bonia Floral Tankini– My favorite part of this set in the colors. When I am mid summer with a great tan, this suit is my go to! I have the top and bottom in size large.  I love the one shoulder look for the resort and still having great coverage.

Cupshe one Piece Tummy Control– I have the swimsuit in two patterns. I LOVE this suit. It looks so cute with a great sarong, shorts or even just a coverup.  I have it in size large.  It does show a bit of boob on the side, but not bad enough that I don’t feel comfortable wearing it at a waterpark! It has great bum coverage without being too much. This swimsuit is what I would call the golden one piece. I feel like it looks great on all sizes, still looks sexy when you want to look more than a mom and covers great for lake days! This is another one piece from this same brand that I am loving!

Albion Margot Pipeline  I have loved Albion swimsuits for years.  I probably buy one every couple years. They have always help up well and give the coverage I want.  This is the one I got this year and I love the block pattern.  I got this in an XL. I feel like they run smaller than other brands, but I do love the fit and look of this suit. This is the another Albion one piece I got this year that I am loving!

Mary’s Favorite Swimsuits

I am 5’7″ with a slightly longer torso than average.  I would consider my figure hourglass, but if I’m carrying extra weight, it lands in my lower abdomen region, hips, and thighs.  I typically wear a size Small, 4, or 27.

I have 4 kids (19, 17, 14, and 10).  I try and find swimsuits that I feel cute in, have good support and coverage, and stay in place…a must for playing in the water with my 10 year old!  When I know I’m going to be in the sun all day, I always try and wear something that covers my shoulders so I don’t get fried.  When I’m just with my husband, I like wearing something that is a little more sexy, but still modest.  Here are a few that I have bought and LOVED recently:

Boden V-Neck Striped Panel One Piece: I loved Merrick’s colorful Boden Dress that she shared not too long ago, so when I saw this swimsuit, I knew I had to try it!  I bought a size 4 and a size 6 and ended up keeping the size 6 because it fit my longer torso better.  I am OBSESSED!!  I love this suit so much.  The bold bright stripes make me so happy, and the fit is perfection. It doesn’t cover my shoulders, so I wouldn’t wear it for a full day in the sun, but I would wear it to just about anything else.  When I checked yesterday, all sizes were in stock and it was 15% off!

Albion Fit Rica Cape Swim Crop and High Waisted Ruched Bottoms: I wear a small in the top and a small in the bottoms. This has been my favorite swim suit for the last couple of years. I wore this same style in a large in the top and a large in the bottoms when I was heavier a couple of years ago (size Large, 12, or 31), and I felt like a million bucks in it.  I loved the way the high waist hit in just the right, most flattering, spot and the ruching was very forgiving.  The fit is good on so many body types.  This suit also fits all three of the situations I described above.  It has great coverage and stays in place, so I can wear it while playing with my daughter.  It has a cute cap sleeve that covers my shoulders, so it’s perfect if I’m going to be in the sun all day. And my husband thinks its super sexy. Win, win, win!

Albion Nautical V-Crop and matching High Waisted Ruched Bottoms: They just restocked this top recently so run and grab it before it’s gone again!  I wear a small in the top and a small in the bottoms. It is so cute with the same coverage and flattering fit as the other one above. I feel like you can’t go wrong with these High Waisted Ruched Bottoms. They are high enough that you can pair them with almost any cropped top  and the coverage is ideal.  This suit doesn’t cover my shoulders, so I wouldn’t wear it to an all day sunny event, but would wear it to play in and be playful and flirty in.

Target Floral One-Piece: I wear a small in this suit.  I found this at my local Target a couple of weeks ago and the price was right and the fit was adorable, so I couldn’t resist.  I was worried the torso wouldn’t be long enough, but it was actually perfect and it has great bum coverage (I don’t like super cheeky suits), and fits so good in all the right places.  It is a little more plunging in the front, which definitely helps it to fit in the “sexy for my husband” category, but I would still wear it to play in the water with my kids.  I feel comfortable and well covered in it.  If you are larger busted, it may feel a little too revealing.

Aerie Leopard Full Coverage One-Piece: Like Laura, I LOVE this suit!  I’ve worn it in multiple sizes and it always looks flattering. I have seen many friends wear this suit in various sizes and it literally looks great on everyBODY! It’s like the Somerset dress of swimsuits, lol.  I wear this suit in a Medium Tall because I want enough material to wrap it up nice and tight (the top is wrap style), and the medium tall size gives great bum and tummy coverage.  I could probably size down, but since I can tie it up as tight as I want, I like to have a little more control with it.  I wear this mostly if I’m going to be laying by the side of a pool or hanging with my husband.  It’s not the best for playing in because the top isn’t super supportive, but it is SO cute if you need a good suit to lay in and look cute.

Courtney’s Favorite Swimsuits

Hi! I am 5’3″ and would say the closest body type to my own is probably pear. I typically order a size Medium, 8, or 28.

I am a mom of 2 girls (2 and 4) who love to play and have fun in the water. It’s always my goal to get in and join them when I can, so my goal in a swimsuit is something with good coverage, but also something I feel confident and cute in. I love both neutrals AND color, so here are a couple of my favorites right now:

Aerie Crinkle Scoop Full Coverage One PieceI feel like every woman should have a good black swimsuit they love and makes them feel fantastic. This one is it for me. It’s comfortable, cute, and I love the scoop neckline for my body type with a smaller chest. It’s also so affordable, so I’m not worried if I get a little sunscreen here or there. This is a great suit for a day at the pool or evening hot tub. So cute!

Amazon Mock Neck Zipper One Piece:  This swimsuit is a dream for me! I think the floral pattern and colors are so darling, but functionality wise it’s incredible. I love that I feel like I’m fully covered, can move around wherever I need to and not feel like anything is falling out, and if you need it, it’s very nursing friendly with the cute zipper. This suit is my go-to for splash pads, pool days with lots of littles, water parks, etc. Such a good option for summertime!
