Here are my swim season must-haves! My favorite silicone pads, my go-to beach bag essentials, and more are included in this list. Almost all of these go on every pool, beach, and water park trip.
We’re quickly heading toward swim season, and maybe with spring break or depending on your location, you’re already in pool or beach mode. I’m all about being prepared—whether it’s for going to the water park with my boys, a weekend at the lake, or a beach vacation. From the best accessories to keep you comfortable in your swimsuit, to the sunscreen I swear by, to the cute (but functional) bag I always bring, grab some of these and try them this spring and summer!
Pool Must-Haves
1. Cakes Nipple Covers – use code MERRICK10 for 10% off. If you are sick of the stupid removable pads in your swimsuits, but still want nipple coverage, these silicone pads are the best! I’ve tried a pair from Amazon that were sticky and they about ripped my nipple off after a pool day (TMI? Sorry…). I finally tried Cakes and they are a game changer. They adhere to your skin with your body heat, and they do not move, even in the water and even if you’re freezing. They come in different shapes and sizes, which makes them ideal for any age, chest size, or swimsuit you’re wearing. Use code MERRICK10.
NoSho. I’ve been raving about this little thing for years. It’s a silicone pad that goes down yonder, and it prevents the dreaded “camel toe” in a swimsuit. I wear this with literally every swimsuit I own. It’s reusable, so you can just wash with soap and warm water after a use, let it dry, and then the one side gets sticky again so it can adhere to your swimsuit bottoms. I’ve worn this in the pool, the ocean, and even on crazy water slides and it stays put. This is a must-have product for me.
SPF Spray. I always put sunscreen on my face every day, but throughout the day it melts off. So I keep this spray on hand to spray on my face to keep my face protected. I especially like that it’s a light mist, so if you’ve put makeup on over your sunscreen in the morning, it won’t mess that up. It’ll just lay nicely on top! It also smells like the banana Runts candy!
Tan Activator. I learned about this from Kristy on my team, and if you want to get a little tan, spray this on while you lay in the sun and it helps move things along more quickly. Make sure you put sunscreen on too, of course!
Simple Modern Bag. I bought this bag last year after using tons of different bags for our weekly water park trips, and nothing was big enough to hold all my stuff. I was literally toting two to three bags to the park! This one holds everything and more, and I love that it stands on its own, is waterproof, and has attachments you can buy that hold your phone and other things as needed.
Easy Cover-Up Shorts. I’m a shorts and swimsuit girl, especially when I’m at the beach or the water park. I don’t need a big coverup that’s a ton of fabric — just give me a comfy pair of shorts I can toss over my swimsuit and go. I have been wearing denim cut-off shorts for years, but I bought this pair this year and they will absolutely be my new go-to. They’re so lightweight and comfy, they instantly dry if they get wet (definitely not the case with the denim shorts), and they come in a ton of colors. I wear a size XS.
Sun Hat. I’ve had this hat for years and I love it. It’s a great shape, good wide brim to keep you covered, and looks so chic with any swimsuit. I’ll typically wear a baseball hat to the water park when I’m feeling a little more casual, but this is my go-to hat for the beach or vacations.
