tee: forever 21 (shop) // skirt: downeast basics // hat: forever 21 (shop) // sunglasses: forever 21 (shop) // shoes: hand me downs – old navy (similar) // purse: coach (similar) // watch: DKNY (shop)
I just went through my closet over the weekend (anyone else feel like I do this all the time??) and donated two garbage bags full of clothes and shoes. How I have enough clothes to do this and not have a completely empty closet, I don’t know. But somehow I still have quite a few things leftover, and it just so happens that about a quarter of them are stripes. And out of those striped items, about half of them are navy and white striped. So it just seemed appropriate to pair two of them together to make this outfit.
Also, someone should maybe call an intervention because my stripes addiction is getting out of control.

  1. Haha I have a stripe addiction too. But I've found a good way to stop buying so many striped things is to start buying polka dots instead. But be warned…it's also quite addicting.

Right there with you… My husband says I could wear a different striped piece every day for a month and not repeat. He's only exaggerating a little! (Must be why he rolls his eyes every time we shop and I try to sell him on my "need" for another striped item. 🙂

Shoot. I wish I lived nearby to hit up the thrift store after you've done a donation. Maybe next time I should just pay you to ship me your rejects. I'm pretty sure it'd up the stylishness of my wardrobe by at least 10x! 🙂

Don't feel bad, you are not alone..I've got a zillion striped shirts and sweaters. Surprised my fiance hasn't said anything yet! My daughter who's 6 says they are my jailor shirts! haha

  5. Hi! Found you via the 1,000 visa gift card giveaway and I'm glad I did! Love your style! And about your bags full of clothes.. don't feel bad! that is a necessity. I always feel new and refreshed when doing it!

Glad to see I'm not the only one with a stripes problem… Despite knowing this, I still gravitate to striped objects while shopping… Online or in stores!!!

  7. Navy and white stripes are my weakness! I love the sailor feel.

Yes! I constantly feel like I'm emptying out my closet…and I always still have plenty of clothes leftover. It is kind of sobering…

I really love your skirt, and even though I'm not usually a fan of stripes on stripes, this really works! I think navy and white stripes are so versatile and classic. I don't think you can go wrong!

Anybody who has reading your blog longer then a month, probably has figured out your stripes addiction. lol. You always look so wonderful in them though. Some people don't have the frame to pull off stripes without looking wider. I wouldn't feel too bad about donating your clothes. I mean, it's better that they go to people that need them rather than just sitting in your closet all sad.

  15. hi Merrick! I'm Renae. Nice to meet you. I've discovered you via the Giveaway but I am thrilled with your nature, the feeling I have here. Corning as it sounds, I think we would be friends in reality. I'm glad to hear you have donated your clothes because I am so grateful for those that donate because I buy those donations and I blog about those fun thrifty finds that set me in to a 'happy place'. 😀

Smoked for 19 years and quit. I’ll tell you my story.
He started smoking in the army, and when he came back, he tried to quit. I’ve tried plasters and pills. Allen Carra and the like read hundreds of books. But he quit for a week and started again.
Ironically, I quit and I haven’t smoked in over two years, thanks to https://heroindetoxeurope.com/
I suggest you all give it a try. I’ll tell you right away that it’s a paid, but really smart way.
If possible, I’ll answer any questions here.
