One of the biggest challenges I think many of you run into when keeping up with trends is staying within a budget. So today I’m excited to introduce to you a really cool online shop called thredUP. They buy and sell high quality secondhand pieces for both women and kids, and have all the best brands like J.Crew, Banana Republic, Anthropologie, Gap, Kate Spade, and a thousand more, so you can find pieces from top brands and designers up to 90% off.
Shopping secondhand is totally an art, and doing it in a store is so overwhelming for me, so being able to do it online, and at least seeing pieces on a mannequin, makes a world of difference. Plus they have really good filters that allow you to search by brand, size, item type, etc, so you can narrow your search really easily. And they’ll even buy your used gently items if you’re looking to clear out your closet!
I’ve been on the hunt for a really great dark peacoat for the last few years — one that goes with everything, can work for casual and dressy, fits me well, and is really well made. Living in a warm climate made it hard for me to justify spending a lot of money on a good one, so I hadn’t taken the plunge yet.
Then I hopped on thredUP a few weeks ago and just happened to search their outerwear, and found the exact coat I was looking for — this gorgeous dark navy, single breasted peacoat from J.Crew. Normally $375, available on thredUP for $95. I literally could not add it to my cart fast enough! And now that it’s here I wear it pretty much every day. I’m obsessed, and thrilled I found what I was looking for without the bigger price tag.
Velvet is huge right now and I found this beautiful Banana Republic blazer for under $40 (retail value was over $150), plus I found the cutest pair of Brighton sneakers for under $50 (normally almost $170), this darling Kate Spade bow blouse, and my gorgeous orange Eileen Fisher turtleneck, all at amazing prices with huge savings. Proof that you can shop trends, even when you’re shopping second hand!
I ordered a bunch of things to try and spent a few hundred dollars total, and although not all of them worked out and I’ll be returning a few of the pieces, I loved seeing the “You saved $1,412” in my confirmation email — that’s insane, right?
I’m always trying to find great pieces at a great price that I can share with you, and thredUP is such a good resource to find both classic and trendy, and even designer pieces for a fraction of the price.
