Am I the only one who hates to pack?
I nearly get anxiety attacks having my clothing spread all over the bed and floor, trying on outfit after outfit to see what I should and shouldn’t bring, debating whether to bring everything in my closet (although Victoria Beckham taught me not to do that — she did that once and her luggage got stolen), and then eventually stuffing my suitcase with a bunch of unplanned, unmatching, random pieces that will not look good together, and will not be appropriate for my trip, and I will not feel cute in.
And to add on to all of this, I must look cute since I’m now parading my daily outfits around on my blog — who decided that was a good idea??
So I’m looking to you, dear readers. Do you have packing advice? Should I try on every outfit before I put it in my suitcase? Should I just bring a bunch of swimsuits and call it good? Should I just bring everything I own and pray that my luggage doesn’t get stolen?
Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi…you’re my only hope.
Where are you going? My advice is to pack really light, then you’ll have an excuse to buy more things while you’re gone. You would even look cute in a moo moo so I don’t think you need to worry much about what you choose to bring.
Okay, big surprise here: I make a giant list of general clothing items (i.e. dress, shorts, flip-flops), organized by day. What will I need during the day and evening on Monday? On Tuesday? Is there a dressy dinner? Will I be walking a lot on a particular day?
And THEN, I go through and figure out which items can do double duty to avoid overpacking. Yes, it’s A Process.
When we went on our honeymoon cruise, we packed our stuff across two bags, each half-and-half with his stuff and my stuff, just in case one got lost. We ended up with both bags, but I felt better about it.
I pack planned outfits for each day and then 2-3 backup outfits. That way I have a few alternatives for my mood that day.
I don’t know! But I expect you to figure this all out and then tell us how to do it in a couple of months!
Same anxiety here, but do try on the clothes especially if you haven’t worn them in a couple or months or longer. RA advice sounds good. (Thanks, RA)
You wouldn’t have to do a picture everyday, would you? (Although, I like seeing what you are wearing.)
You are young, thin, and cute. You can probably wear anything as long as the color is good on you. 🙂
oh my gosh I have the same problem. I get made fun of so much b/c I always bring much much more than I will actually wear.
I agree with Ashley & RA – I would pick out the outfits – then downsizes as you can. 🙂
She really lost ALLL her stuff? oh my goodness… I'm going to have to re-evaluate my packing strategy for the future with this new knowledge.
Call Landen. Worked for me 🙂
I’m totally with you on the packing thing, there’s nothing worse. Unfortunately it carries over into packing for my boys too. Except that their clothes are so little i really do end up packing all of them 🙂
Well, it appears that all your outfits are cute… I especially like your red top on your sidebar. When I pack (which I also hate) when I go somewhere (almost never) I am frustrated because that is when I realize most that I have nothing to wear. Clearly, I need you or Janssen to take me shopping. You guys are great deal-hunters! Of course, if I were a size 0-whatever like you guys, the shopping for deals would be a lot easier. 🙂
I, too, get terribly anxious when I’m planning a trip or something like that… it’s just a disgusting feeling. And it’s not just about going anywhere, it’s about everyday life. How do you fight it?
