Quick weekend getaways are some of my favorite kinds of vacations. You don’t need to pack a giant suitcase, you don’t have to sleep away from your own bed for too long, but you get to scratch the vacation itch.

Memorial Day is in two weeks, and since the weather’s getting warm, it’s the perfect time for a little getaway to the beach, or the lake, or somewhere else warm and sunny.

So today I’ve teamed up with J.Crew to share an easy packing list for a sunny weekend getaway packing list, and all the essentials you’ll need for a small bag, but maximum style.

Packing Essentials for a Sunny Weekend Getaway

Swimsuit

Obviously a good swimsuit for a weekend getaway is a must, whether you’re hitting the beach, the lake, or the hotel pool.

I’ve owned several J.Crew swimsuits over the years and I’m always impressed by their quality and how long they last. Their new suits for this season are so cute.

I’m obsessed with this PINK AND WHITE STRIPED ONE PIECE, and can you even handle this FLORAL ONE PIECE?? I also bought this RUFFLE SCOOP BACK ONE PIECE, and I think a perfect STRIPED ONE PIECE is a must for everyone.

A Go-To Dress

An easy toss-on-and-go dress is essential for weekend getaways. You know, the kind of dress you can wear with SNEAKERS and a BASEBALL CAP, but also dress up with WEDGES or HEELS for a nice dinner?

I saw this EYELET DRESS in the window at J.Crew a few weeks ago and instantly knew I had to have it. It just screams summer!

I bought it in white, but it also comes in black and pink. Also loving this PATTERNED MIDI DRESS!

Easy Summer Top

Everyone needs an easy summer top for those weekend getaways. The kind you can wear with your CUT OFF SHORTS, or wear with WHITE JEANS and FLATS to dinner, or toss on with a BREEZY SKIRT for Sunday brunch.

J.Crew has tons of cute ones this season, like this adorable STRAWBERRY PRINT TIE-FRONT TOP, and this beautiful STRIPED SHORT SLEEVED BUTTON DOWN.

Shoes that go with everything.

My rule of thumb on vacation is three pairs of shoes. One pair of sandals, one pair of sneakers, and one pair of dressy shoes like heels or wedges.

But for quick weekend getaways when we’re spending the majority of our days at the pool or the beach, and everything is low key, one pair of sandals totally works!

A simple pair like these CRISSCROSS FLAT SANDALS are casual enough for the pool, but also nice enough to wear with a dress and jeans. They come in a ton of cute colors, like GLITTER and also RAINBOW STRIPE!

The last little essentials

And then all you need besides those four things is a cute pair of SUNGLASSES, a SMALL BAG for evening, a TOTE BAG for daytime, and a pair of JEANS and SHORTS.

Oh, and don’t forget a HAT to keep the sun out of your eyes!
