I’d recommend a jacket with a thicker fabric that won’t get caught or cling on the extra fabric of the waistband, like a denim or utility or leather jacket. Avoid a lightweight jersey cardigan or a thin drapey blazer. I kept my tee underneath fitted and basic to not add additional bulk around the middle.

The thing about paper bag waist pants is that you have to commit to fully tucking your top. There’s too much fabric at the waist as it is, and if you leave your top untucked it defeats the purpose of the waist details and will give you a really bulky look.
